Why don’t we change Illinois’ license plate motto from “Land of Lincoln” to something like “Land of Squeezie, the Pension Python”?
My wife and I were enjoying lunch and watching television. Can you imagine how appetizing it is to see commercials for bankruptcy help, nursing home abuse and, to top it off, how soft drinks affect prostrate cancer? Then throw in lawyers suing for on-the-job exposure to asbestos. What ever happened to Bozo the Clown?
I think if Mexico and these South American countries treated their citizens like human beings instead of like cattle then they wouldn’t want to come here in the first place. I’m sure they would be happier to stay where they live. Why would a Mexican want to come to the United States and freeze up here when the weather in Mexico is so much better? Of course it is because our economy and way of life is much better here than what it is in these southern countries. If those countries would improve, they would stay where they were born.
God was with Tori Berrios when she went around the gate at the train crossing? The gate was down because a train was coming. What is wrong with people? Why do they not know that a gate is down because a train is coming, horn or no horn? What is so important that you can’t be two minutes late?
More about the person from Lemont who commented about my rant about tipping: My wife and I are both very capable cooks. Being married for 39 years attests to our commitment. Going out to eat was merely a social thing with us. Now we have replaced that with something else where tipping is not an issue. As my rant stated, we have taken out at least $600 from our local economy for restaurants because certain people can’t let other people live their lives. By the way, Panera Bread does a nice job without any tip bowls at the front counter.
Day after day people are getting hit in their wallets. Now Illinois is raising the license plate fees. What is wrong with these people? Don’t they realize the people don’t have the money? People need to start standing up and telling these politicians enough is enough. Every time you turn around they are reaching into your pocket. If it’s not the state then it’s the county or the city. This is completely out of hand. We should stand up for our rights.
Some day the Rev. Michael Pfleger will wake up and admit the truth to himself. The violence in his community is not due to guns. I think it is due to the lack of morals and proper upbringing in his community. I’m sorry but 14-year-old children do not make good mothers. Thirty-year-old women with six illegitimate children do not make good parents. Men producing children they don’t raise or men constantly in and out of jail do not make good parents. Many other states have concealed-carry gun laws but they don’t have the violence that we have. Wake up, Pfleger!
Can the feds please come in and look at Country Club Hills Mayor Dwight Welch’s past history before this casino goes in there?
I live right near the 80th Avenue Metra station. I would sure like to see more events scheduled here by the township. I’m so tired of having to go to the Oak Park Avenue train station for all these events. There is nowhere to park and it’s crowded. Everything seems to be happening there in old Tinley Park. How about bringing the farmers market or a few other events to this station? The 80th Avenue Metra station has lots of parking and the area is much more adaptable to foot traffic.
Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich got 14 years behind bars. I’m assuming former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. will be getting even more. Let’s throw the book at these guys and show them that Illinois isn’t going to put up with this corruption anymore.
I don’t know who is the bigger offender of using the race card. Is it Chicago Sun-Times columnist Mary Mitchell or John W. Fountain? When will these two people realize that the Civil War is over? Everyone is free and equal to do as they please. It’s not innocent people’s fault that our prisons are predominantly full of minorities. When you break the law you have to pay the consequences. It seems like all I read from Mitchell and Fountain is how their people are constantly being persecuted. Get over it. It’s a new day.
Are the unions concerned about the employees or the massive amount of dollars in union dues that they will collect? They are frantically trying to recoup the billions spent on the election. Then they tell how much the chief executives at Wal-Mart are making yet cleverly omit mentioning that many of the union big boys probably make much more, especially when their travel and food expense perks are added in. So, in the end, who are the real winners and losers? The small financial increase the employee will enjoy will immediately go back in dues.
I know people who went to private school and are dropouts or have been to prison before. It depends on upbringing.
I have to laugh at the bravado of the likes of state Rep. LaShawn Ford calling bank fraud charges against him “ridiculous.” There’s also Cook County Commissioner William Beavers’ refusal to be a “stool pigeon” in a federal indictment for tax fraud. These knuckleheads can crow all they want, but they know what is coming. I predict we’ll hear that usual desperate bleat when they finally go to prison. Stay tuned.
