It’s important for youngsters to learn about cultural arts. Bravo to Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra music director David Danzmayr for visiting Lincoln-Way High School District 210.
Policemen and firemen put their lives on the line every time they go out on call. They do not know if they are going to come back. They have a love for human life. All lives are very important. I hope they give the policemen and firemen parades and respect every day. God bless you all.

Why should we vote for people who are so willing to rip us off?
The coyotes in the suburbs have been around since the 1980s. They were all over the place when I worked for the Oak Forest golf course. The only reason you see more and more of them now is because we are tearing down their land and their burrows to build houses and stores that nobody seems to be buying. Leave their land alone and let them be.
Rest in peace, WGN-AM (720). The last and best reason to listen to you is leaving at the end of December. Good luck, midday host John Williams. You are the sunset of a once-great radio station.
Teachers should be ashamed to use the students in their classrooms as shields for their own gain when they go out on strike. If they were that concerned about the children they would be in the classrooms until the matter was settled. They would not strike and leave the children without direction.
No taxation without representation. We in Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District should be receiving about six months of tax rebates. I think we have had no representation in the U.S. House of Representatives for about a half year. However, former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. still got paid during his absence, so we probably still owed taxes. Never mind.
The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights helped defeat several politicians in Illinois. So if you think illegal immigrants in the United States have no say, then you are wrong. The illegal immigrants turn politics around in America because the greedy politicians kept their eyes closed. Now politicians are pandering to the illegal immigrants. It’s costing Illinois billions in benefits for illegal immigrants.

Going over the so-called cliff would be better than accepting the Republicans’ plan for deficit reduction and taxes.
People have the right to have “union home” signs in front of their homes. These signs are not eyesores. I think union jobs pay better than nonunion. You should be glad there are union signs on lawns instead of foreclosure stickers on the windows in your neighborhood. Stop complaining!
I know there are a lot of ways to hear your music these days, but I still can’t believe no rock radio stations in Chicago will play any new rock music. Shame on them! There are still people around that like that music and yes, I agree with the person commenting on the band the Who.
Will County Judge Joseph Polito stated that he started looking at porn when he was 8 or 9 years old. That would make it in the 1950s. Who was supplying the porn then? Was it his parents? Where was he looking at porn at that age?
This is a huge thank-you to the brave soul who called 911 and rescued the dogs being used in the dog fight in Dolton. The horror that these poor loving dogs have gone through is sickening. The creatures that do things like this to any animal are lower than dirt and aren’t even human. Please, to anyone, if you suspect an animal is being abused or neglected, call the police. You can be anonymous.

I find it interesting that guest columnist Andy Shaw’s first bullet point in the article titled “Sometimes, they get things right” praises eliminating the legislative scholarship program. Doing this prevents students that cannot afford a higher education from obtaining a scholarship from the Illinois General Assembly. Let’s throw out the baby with the bathwater rather than fixing some of the notable abuses in the program. I guess citizens of the 2nd Congressional District should also not be allowed to have a representative due to the abuses of prior officeholders in that district.
I don’t know the qualifications of the other candidates who are running for Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District seat. The one thing I do know is they are not convicted felons. If former U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds runs and is elected, we will all know that the Democrats don’t care about qualifications.
You want to see true love? Then view some of those videos of military personnel’s children who see their relation when that person returns home unexpectedly, particularly after months away. There’s nothing phony about the children’s reactions. What you are viewing folks is true love.
The Illinois Lottery was supposed to help out education. Politicians changed that arrangement, I bet.
Recently while at a grocery store I witnessed a woman with several small children being verbally harassed by a moron over her use of a Link card at the checkout. I intervened and told him to back off or I’d give him something to think about. All you Link “cops” out there, your problem is with the system, not the individual so back off.
