A Speak Out commenter wanted to know what happened to Bozo the Clown. They cloned a whole bunch of him. The clones are now running Illinois.
Congratulations to Amy and Ken Kazin and the cast from Evergreen Park High School. The play “Christmas By Remote Control” was really enjoyable. Great work!

Michigan is the 24th state with a right-to-work bill. Indiana joined those states earlier this year. I heard more than 100 new jobs came to Indiana since that time. Face it. Union demands and greed have lost the support of the general public. They are doomed.
Actor George Clooney recently raised alarms regarding village burnings in the Sudan. He said he is concerned with genocide by the Sudanese Army. That is commendable, but George and his ilk should focus on the genocide occurring daily in the inner cities of America. He helped elect President Obama, who needs all the help he can get.
It will be harder for an illegal immigrant to get a library card than it will be to get a driver’s license. How does that make sense?
I just read they are taking down 877 trees in Grant Park to repair an underground roof. I’ve never read anything so stupid. What is a park without trees? The trees take enough beatings between the storms and everything. Pretty soon there will be no more trees. Trees are the givers of life. They give off oxygen. There are going to be many animals and birds with no place to live. We are taking away their homes. There has to be a better solution.

I have good news. I just found out that not all Muslims are serious radical murderers. Some have common sense to say no. It’s just like how not all Germans during Adolf Hitler’s regime were Nazis.
How can the same brand of gasoline be 20 to 30 cents cheaper in Palos Heights than in Tinley Park? Exactly how much of an additional tax does Tinley have on gasoline? Sorry, Tinley gas station owners. I will have to drive elsewhere to fill up.
If Country Club Hills Mayor Dwight Welch has the slightest notion of playing financial shenanigans with the casino, as I think he has done with the people of Country Club Hills, he will need more protection than he has now.
Columnist Phil Kadner’s explanation of the mess that we are in with this pension reform was really disturbing. Homeowners and taxpayers, please wake up! We have to get these guys in Springfield out of office before they take our homes from us.
The purpose of a funeral and the funeral procession is to show respect for the deceased. These gangbangers have no respect for the living or the dead. They don’t even have respect for themselves. They should be completely barred from attending any of these funerals. The only people allowed should be the immediate family. Stop wasting valuable police time on these lowlifes.

If the Bible is mistaken in telling us where we came from then how can we trust it to tell us where we are going?
I would never wish upon anyone the pain and heartbreak of having a parent with Alzheimer’s disease. To know the pain of going into a room and your father has no idea who you are from the next person is something I would never wish on anybody. Before you start making comments that can truly hurt, think about it and put yourself in that perspective. You would think twice before making an insensitive comment.
The wise people say the housing market is up and stable. The SouthtownStar and local community newspapers continue to publish thousands of foreclosures. Does the market sound up?
To U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin: Do not touch Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. The middle class did not create this financial crisis. Rather than cutting programs important to the middle class and poor, impose a transaction tax on Wall Street. I think they created the recession. Let them pay the price. Eliminate welfare subsidies to wealthy corporations. Raise the capital gains tax. There are many ways to balance this budget without hurting the middle class. We’ve taken enough hits.
The police “code of silence” has been around a very long time. I remember as a kid in the 1950s that you didn’t mess with cops or their kids because things would happen to your family and nothing would ever be done. So don’t tell me a code of silence doesn’t exist.
President Obama is a very strong and highly respected president. I feel safe under his leadership. A Speak Out commenter stated that President Obama has a way of lecturing and speaking down to people. That’s just the way he talks.
The new concealed-gun law is scary. I think a lot more of us are going to get shot. Keep guns at home, away from kids though.
People in the suburbs have the right to representation. With former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush, I think we never had any representation with these two losers. It’s time for the people in the suburbs to demand some representation in Congress. We have tried to vote them out of office but because of the new congressional district map we in the suburbs are stuck with absolutely no representation. Jackson Jr. didn’t even work and those of us who are stuck with Rush are no better off. Rush has never cared about anyone in the suburbs.
