I think Chicago people are tired of hearing all this bullying and “I want it my way” out of the mayor’s office. Everything can’t be your way. I am fed up with all this coming from Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Brad O’Halloran, a village trustee from Orland Park, is now the chairman of the Metra Board. I never see any stories about the salary he is receiving in that position. I see he is still collecting his trustee salary. I guess there is never enough for these guys like O’Halloran.
What if we take some of the incredible billions wasted on the U.S. Department of Defense and use some of that money to protect our schools?
A Speak Out commenter stated that although Country Club Hills Mayor Dwight Welch may have made a few mistakes in the past, the community is much better off now. Please give me a break. Welch doesn’t make mistakes. I think he is an opportunist. Every move he makes is disguised to ingratiate his position to manipulate and exploit the citizens of Country Club Hills. The mayor has repeatedly misused taxpayers’ money and takes the position that he has immunity from taking responsibility. Maybe the city should change its slogan from “The Crossroads of Opportunity” to “Catch Me If You Can.”
The “‘CMA Country Christmas” music TV show was a breath of fresh air. The real Christmas season is alive and well. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all.
Arming teachers is not a solution to tragic shootings in schools. Teachers have feelings too. What if they can’t take it anymore and start shooting up their own school?
If you worked for a company that had a union, would you accept a pay increase or better working conditions if the union negotiated that? You would. But would that be fair to dues-paying union members? Of course, no one would pay for something if they can get it for free, but unions are not independently wealthy. They need support from the membership they serve. Freedom isn’t free and neither are workers’ rights. They both have to be fought for. I think right-to-work states just don’t think workers should have any rights.
Please don’t tell me that Bill Daley is going to run for governor of Illinois. This is part of the same-old stale Democratic machine of Chicago that has bankrupted Chicago, Cook County and in the process Illinois. Give me a break. Can’t we get some fresh faces with some new ideas in our governor’s office? Can’t we get a balance of power here in Illinois?
Dear National Rifle Association: I think the blood of the 26 adults and children executed in Connecticut is on your hands.
I lived in Blue Island for 30 years and watched it go from a vibrant family-oriented community to a gang-riddled ghost town. I was forced to leave through an act of violence. I notice that they do not print their Blue Island police reports because those reports probably would go on forever. I think the community has been secretive about all its problems.
Don’t ban all of these weapons. Look at what these kids are listening to and watching on television. That is the motivating factor. They think if you shoot someone that they will just come back to life and go on living. They are so detached from reality that it is unbelievable. Guns don’t kill people by themselves. Ill-raised people by incompetent parents kill people once they have guns in their hands.

The Illinois people have been taxed enough. There are millions missing from the pension funds. Track down every politician who has had their hands on it or misspent the money that wasn’t their’s. That is grand theft. They should all be prosecuted. The taxpayers should have nothing to do with this. You politicians spent this money. Go to prison for it.

Elected officials in Congress continue to serve regardless of age yet every time it’s convenient, they want to raise the eligibility age of Social Security or Medicare. Why can’t retirement age apply to them? Some workers who are able to work are forced out at age 65. You bet that is a double standard.
President Obama has been trying to straighten out problems caused by Republican administrations for the past 30 years. I think they’ve been filling the pockets of their billionaire friends and making the middle class pay for it. I don’t know what these antiunion people are using for information, but they are ignoring the facts.
I would like someone to state that criminals and bad people are always going to get guns. Those of us who are law-abiding citizens who use our hunting rifles or go to the firing range to practice, have that right to own a gun.
I hear a lot about how we are doing it for the children, but they are considering closing schools. If you close schools then you are sending those children out of their area and out of their neighborhood. How good is that for the children? You can see the problems in these areas and schools, but you are not doing anything for the children. All you are trying to do is save money.
How dare these politicians take vacations. They should be back at the table getting things done that they had 18 months to do. The public is suffering; they are partying.
I’m a saver. We put our money in the bank expecting a small return. Now that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and President Obama have driven interest rates toward zero, they have effectively pushed myself and millions of other savers, who put our money in the bank, over the fiscal cliff four years ago. We don’t give out interest on savings anymore.
