All of these issues with mental health illnesses should have been brought up to Gov. Pat Quinn when he was closing down the Tinley Park Mental Health Center.
I didn’t believe these stories of Link card abuse until recently. I saw this lady buy 48 gallons of milk at once. Then she bragged about how her son owned a shop and Wal-Mart was the cheapest place to get milk. Why can’t the people who run the Link card see the abuse?
U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk was interviewed and showed videos of his progress. I’d like to see former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. be as transparent as Kirk was during his medical condition. Columnist Phil Kadner seemed more concerned with insurance than the feat Kirk accomplished after a devastating medical condition. That was a great piece of journalism, Mr. Kadner. I’m using that word loosely.

My boss laid me off in December. I worked my butt off but was told business was slow. I learn that he received a $50,000 bonus for keeping spending down and laying off personnel. I know how I would have saved $50,000 if I had that position. It’s not the jerks like Mr. Bonus who get the work done. It’s the blue-collar man or woman who gets the work done.
Thank God for Silver Cross Hospital turning Korie Kellogg in after seeing bruises on her son’s body. Most agencies don’t. The systems don’t work. They need to be fixed. Look at our children being killed every day by parents. We better help these victims of domestic violence.
Some Republicans just will not give up. Now they want to fight the debt ceiling bill. Some say it may be necessary to shut down the government. They are a bunch of sour grapes. They are still upset about the election. It’s all about trying to get even.
I just read that more of our soldiers committed suicide than were killed in combat in 2012. I think the reason for that is these young men were sold a bill of goods that they were going to the Middle East to bring democracy and freedom to people. But they are going over there to protect the United States’ oil interests and they are getting disillusioned. It’s a shame these people’s lives get wasted over government lies.

Do people really believe that firemen and policemen take the job because of the money? Many have served in the armed forces and still have the need to serve and protect. There have been incidents where I had to call 911 for gas explosions and injuries. They have always been there when needed.
Why did they take the oldies-but-goodies station, WLS-FM (94.7), off the air? All the music now seems to be for the young kids. Don’t they think older people listen to music?

In order to get votes, we will have same-sex marriage. We should also allow polygamy, whether it’s one woman and multiple men or one man and multiple women. Let’s get back to Sodom and Gomorrah and end up in hell.
Some commenters have brought up dressing nicely at a fine-dining restaurant. They criticize some people who are, in their opinion, poorly dressed in T-shirts or jeans while dining at a nice restaurant. It didn’t seem to be an issue with the hostess when they we seated. Don’t you think it should be the restaurant’s judgment who to seat and serve? Is my $100 bill worth any less than your $100 bill just because I’m wearing jeans and you are wearing dress pants? If so then maybe we should judge a book by its cover just to be safe.
Bye-bye, former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith. Hello get-betterness. Get rid of lousiness. Quite living in 1985. Goodbye, Lovie. Goodbye.
I think the SouthtownStar’s comics section is no pleasure to read anymore. You have miniaturized the writing to where you need a magnifying glass. That is ridiculous. If you are going to have a section, print it so people can read it.
The United States no longer has any morals. The elite in Springfield and Washington, D.C., pass bills that they are exempt from. They take from those who work and use that money to buy votes from the illegal immigrants and those feeding at the government’s pig trough. In Illinois they kiss your butt for votes for the Democrats in power. Wake up, America. This used to be our country. Thank you, U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan, Illinois Senate President John Cullerton, President Obama and the rest of you elitist politicians.

I would like to suggest to doctors who work in groups that they should call their own offices to talk to their staffs. See how the customers are treated by these people who act like neo-Nazis. It’s almost impossible to get past them. Doctors need to look into this. These people seem to think they have power over everybody.
When are the teachers and state workers going to wake up? The politicians have made them promises that they cannot keep. Besides not contributing their fair share, they steal from your pensions funds. They couldn’t care less about the common man. They will tell you anything to get your vote. You keep voting the same thieves in over and over again. And don’t think your union leaders aren’t in on the game. How many of them will be struggling to make ends meet when they retire? The state of Illinois is doomed. It is unfixable and they know it.
