Don’t cry for cyclist Lance Armstrong who recently admitted to doping during competition. I think he has a great future as an elected politician in America.
Regarding the tragedy at Chicago State University: As I opened my paper on Jan. 17 and saw the headlines, I was saddened and outraged also. This was a basketball game, not a drug deal or a gang fight. Tyrone Lawson was a good young man with a bright future ahead of him, going out to support his school, and he is killed by a cowardly thug. And people wonder why racial profiling still exists. You wonder why we feel the way we feel and think the way we think. Another example lays before us, as does poor Tyrone. My prayers go out to his family.

The 112th Congress is history, but that doesn’t stop the ones who are still serving in the 113th Congress. They started off bringing up rotten apples from the last Congress.
Kudos to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for sticking up for his state. His state should be helped as all the previous states have been for floods. If we didn’t help every foreign country with their disasters then we would have enough money for the United States’ disasters. Do we ever get any help from any foreign country when we have a disaster?
Nobody can tell me what I should buy or what I should eat. If I don’t buy the right things or I don’t eat the right things, they want to raise my health insurance rate. I think this is unconstitutional. Nobody can tell somebody how to live. When they start paying for your groceries, maybe then they can tell me what to eat. America is still a free country. Nobody can tell you what to do. It’s wrong for them to raise your insurance rates. I think there should be a class-action lawsuit brought against this.
I think Illinois needs to bring back the death penalty. We need to kill the people who are killing people.

It’s all about the lawyers. Gay marriages increase the possibility of having a divorce. Therefore, lawyers make more money off the divorces.
There are other newspapers in town with minimal sports coverage. The SouthtownStar is the only newspaper that covers prep sports. It’s the main reason why I subscribe.

Being a Republican millionaire doesn’t mean you are better at making money than a Democrat. There are also Democrat millionaires. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney had money behind him. However, I think he lost the election because he was out of touch with the American people. It had nothing to do with his business sense nor money. I think it was all about his judgment.
A Speak Out commenter went after Cardinal Francis George and the Catholic Church for making what he thinks are political statements. Why doesn’t anyone go after the Rev. Jesse Jackson or the Rev. James Meeks or their churches? Why just go after Cardinal George?

Any politician from the past 30 years should be ashamed of themselves. They have created this fiscal fiasco and have refused to do anything about it. They have made promises they cannot possibly keep. They should be embarrassed to show their faces in public. But why would they do anything to jeopardize their own pensions? Even if we vote them out of office, I think they are still going to get it. It’s such a mess. It’s unbelievable, but I guess it isn’t so unbelievable. It’s Illinois.

Even if you did get the flu shot it is not guaranteed that you would not get the flu.
While you are giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants are you also going to make sure they get auto insurance? I doubt it because you can’t even make sure American citizens have insurance. I doubt that people who are here illegally are going to obey the law. As a matter of fact, I think we are rewarding them for breaking the law this whole time.
Attention, Crestwood residents. Choose your candidates carefully in our upcoming April election. We need a mayor and trustees who really care about our safety and being fiscally responsible with our village to progress and prosper into the future.
To all the people out there having one kid after another and can’t afford it: Here is a thought: Stop having kids and invest in birth control. It’s that simple. There are ways of avoiding this situation.
So firefighters should pick up garbage? Do you mean garbage cans or litter? Do you think the firefighters sit around all day? Not from my personal experience. When do you think they do their training? Again, realize the shift is 24 hours whether a call comes in at 8 a.m. or 2 a.m., they are at your service. Someone needs a reality check. I am tired of all the bad-mouthing when it comes to firefighters and police.

Whenever President Obama wants something done, he says, “The people want me to do this.” How does he know what the people want? Nobody asked us. This seems to be fairly arrogant.
Wal-Mart is going to hire veterans. So, they are going to hire veterans likely at minimum wage, probably get a tax break and have us subsidize their wage with food stamps. What a joke!
