Who is going to pay for illegal immigrants to take driver’s education classes? Remember the Willis family tragedy? Someone might be joining former Gov. George Ryan.
My hat is off to the Alsip Police Department. I was in a funeral precession recently from Alsip to Hillside. We had a police escort the whole way. They got us there safely. Every one of them volunteered for this on their day off.
A Speak Out contributor recently complained that same-sex marriage was not subject to the will of the people. Human rights are determined by the U.S. Constitution, not the ballot box. One group cannot vote to limit the rights of another group. Women have not always been able to vote in America. Should whether or not to grant that fundamental right be determined by a vote of men? Should white people be able to vote to determine the rights of black people? Should heterosexual people be able to vote to deny the rights of gay people? Obviously, no, no and no.

Why do people always have to blame fast-food places and junk food for their weight? There is something called willpower and most people don’t have that. They want to take the easy way out by taking diet pills. Nobody forces you to eat at fast-food places all the time or put junk food in your mouth but you and yourself alone.
I think the Boy Scouts’ possibly allowing gays into their community is just another sign of how our world is getting crazier every day. The Boy Scouts exist to set a good example for our young men, not an example of abnormal behavior. I’m totally against that decision.
Congratulations, Illinois politicians. Illinois now has the lowest credit rating in the entire United States. Congratulations, Gov. Pat Quinn, Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan, Illinois Senate President John Cullerton and many others. Your smothering Democrat policies have burdened us all with such a debt that the debt-riddled European countries that are falling apart feel sorry for us. At least I think they feel sorry for us because I don’t understand Greek. They could just be saying that we deserve it.
A Speak Out commenter asked if anyone else thinks the area around 143rd Street and LaGrange Road looks like an eyesore. You are not the only one who thinks that. It’s horrible. The sad thing is there is nothing we can do about it. The village forced it through. Now we are stuck with it.
Everyone is talking about what should be done about gun control from a ban on automatic weapons to background checks on people for mental illness and criminal background. All they have to do is think about one thing. Reinstate the death penalty. That gets rid of the potential killers. The others coming up to take their place just might think twice about using a gun.

So Election Day comes and goes and people are still complaining about their politicians and complaining about what those politicians do or don’t do. How many people sat at home and did nothing and allowed these people to remain in office? When these politicians get re-elected they take it as a sign that the people want them to continue to do what they do. You either have to continuously write to your politicians to let them know about your complaint or vote them out of office. Just do something; will you?
My wife and I had five children and were expecting our sixth when the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton evils were “legalized” 40 years ago. The key issues were to provide innocent young girls and women, who suffered through rape and/or incest, an opportunity to rid an unwanted pregnancy. After 55 million abortions have we solved this incest or rape problem or caused an even worse consequence? We need help, America. Moral decay is running rampant. Stop the insanity and ask our God almighty for forgiveness and direction.

I think Crestwood residents really need a change in the elected and appointed officials who are supposed to be working in the best interest of the residents of our village. We have too many people in positions in Crestwood who only want to keep things the same or feel they are superior to the law and have forgotten what, why and who elected them.
I think the two full-page articles recently on Steve Eberhardt, the presumptive Tinley Park mayoral candidate, seemed to be political promotion ads. Or was the newspaper duped into covering his antics so extensively as political news? His demand for a debate did not warrant a full-page article and is not appropriate for a village board meeting. The picture was in poor taste and unnecessary. Having made no positive contribution to Tinley Park, why is he now getting involved? What could be his motives? Tinley Park is regarded as one of the best-run villages in the Chicago area for a reason.
Watch out, boys. The girls are coming. With President Obama and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton making nice with love and kisses on the TV show “60 Minutes,” could it be a Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama 2016 presidential bid?
To Howard Ludwig, who writes the Stay-At-Home Dad column: You have respect enough for your children to refer to them by name. But why do you insist on calling your spouse “the wife”? Would you call your child “the boy”? If you can’t state her name for some reason or another, then why not at least state “my wife”? How impersonal can you get?
