They should turn the Plaza shopping mall in Evergreen Park into the new casino for the Southland. How about that?
Rick from Evergreen Park
Can someone explain to me the logic behind the U.S. Postal Service being subject to congressional control while at the same time it is an independent agency that receives no funds from the government? It’s a recipe for failure. Let the post office operate like a business in the 21st century.
It’s the modern definition of being between a rock and a hard place. You are in retirement. Your ability to enhance your annual income has all but faded away. Your health is getting poorer. They’ve upped your property taxes again and tell you about all the unfunded pension liabilities that have to be paid though property taxes. You lost the equity in your house. You can’t sell it even at the depressed price. The politicians know they have you where they want you, and you can’t do a thing about it.
Maybe if the Illinois politicians were actually concerned with real business and running the state properly, then we wouldn’t be in the mess we are in now. This state’s credit rating is ranked lower than Mississippi and Alabama. I think we are the laughingstock of the United States. Instead of trying to get our budget in order and running things right, it seems like Gov. Pat Quinn and Congress are worried about gay marriage and giving driver’s licenses to criminals. I think our congresspeople and governor are morons.
Has any one noticed the eyesores that are left behind when the satellite dishes are no longer in use? There should be a policy to have these eyesores removed or turned back in. Why can’t the companies regulate this situation? It’s a shame to see so many dishes on one building and there’s only one in use.

To Kim from Park Forest: Some people see the need to send school supplies to Niger because the kids there don’t have access to them. There is no doubt in my mind that Native American kids are not getting what they need either. I think in America our government is not held accountable for the money supposedly allocated to provide school supplies and an education for all American schoolchildren. I applaud individuals that choose to help those in need wherever they may be. If our elected officials would follow their lead, the U.S. financial picture would be much brighter.

When we watch WGN-TV (Channel 9) weatherman Tom Skilling, we notice he repeats the forecast at least four times during his airtime. Is this really necessary? He shows way too much unneeded jargon in a short time. His time-elapsed maps cover 48 hours in two seconds. How are we supposed to comprehend that? Please, Tom, just tell us the forecast once and slow the time-elapsed maps down so they mean something.
Regarding the 80th Avenue train station: I think the Tinley Park powers that be finally got what they wanted. It’s a pizza place serving the commuters coffee in the morning. Congratulations.
My aunt was my dad’s executor of estate. When he died she sold everything and left the state of Illinois.

Around the world in places like Egypt and Tunisia, people are dying, fighting for freedom from government rule limiting their freedom of choice and thought. Here in the United States, I think we’re giving up our freedom of thought, speech and choice to our corrupt government. Our ancestors are rolling in their graves.
Why is the pope always in the news? As far as I know, he is a leader of a billion religious fanatics, not based on reality. Catholicism is not the only religion in the world, so why is he so prominent? Once again, you do not need a make-believe deity to be a moral person. I think religion has been a major cause of hate and war through the centuries.
Please give me one specific example of how President Obama does not follow the Constitution. I bet you can’t. There are so many ridiculous comments like this without any facts to back it up. Enough with the nonsense! Start worrying about all the cuts the Republican Party want to make to Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and all other programs that help the working class.
There are fresh Chicago police desk jockeys who are back out on the streets. I think all that will come from that is more idling squad cars and an increase of doughnut and coffee sales.
Ted from Frankfort
I want U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius to exempt me from Obamacare. From what I’ve seen, unions and politically connected folks and corporations are applying for wavers. I want that privilege too. Since it seems like the government wants to use Medicare money to pay for Obamacare, then they owe me.
Regarding Hollywood Casino’s Reve nightclub: How in the world did we manage to exist without this fine establishment up until now? Now, as marketing manager Jill Green explains, we have a place with a chilled-out vibe where, not only are you welcomed in a black bra and/or bikini, but “you don’t have to wear a bra at all.” Hopefully we will allow equality for the sexes and encourage men to come pantless. And some would term this “dressing to impress”?
