As if paying for health care isn’t expensive enough, now the powers that be want to charge an arm and leg to pay for parking.
Why is New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg allowed to pour money into Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District race? Come on, Illinoisans. Vote in the candidate who is best for the job here in Illinois, without the clutches of someone like Bloomberg, who I think is a dictatorial politician from outside this state. Free this state for a change. Let’s have a candidate who can do a job that will help the people.
This is to MWM who says there is no God. What if you are wrong? What will you tell God when you face him on the day you die? Think about it.
I think the Republican leadership in Washington, D.C., is the worst group of people we have ever elected to represent us. It seems like they oppose everything no matter how good it would be for Americans. It is obvious they are only concerned with criticizing and insulting President Obama and looking to get re-elected. They propose changing Medicare and Social Security but I don’t hear them talking about cutting their salaries or reducing their medical coverage. What a bunch of hypocrites! This is so sad.

It’s time for Gov. Pat Quinn to stand up to Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan and the unions that have been bullying Illinois for the past 25 years. He has done nothing to solve this fiscal fiasco we are in since he became governor. This is the governor’s job. It’s time Quinn does it. There is no need to raise taxes. Just cut the pork, corruption and fraud. Oh, I think I just woke up. Why would any Illinois politician do anything for pension reform? They would be taking money out of their already stuffed pockets.

I can’t believe that so many made a big deal about the snow.
How do cab drivers who are not citizens get driver’s licenses to drive cabs when they don’t know where they are going?
The SouthtownStar ran a story about Evergreen Park police pulling over minorities. All you have to do is sit anywhere on 103rd Street between Pulaski Road and Kedzie Avenue and watch the people flying down the street. Why is it that when a minority gets caught breaking the law it’s racism? They scream racism and speed down the street. If they get stopped they throw a temper tantrum. If Evergreen Park is so worried about this then maybe they should put a minority police officer out there. This speeding needs to stop.
I often wonder if any of the complainers who have commented in Speak Out have ever read the U.S. Constitution. Then again, if they have read it, do they even have the ability to understand it?
When I used to have a meaningful job, my taxes went to the government. Now I’m homeless after 24 years. I hope you Democratic government employees rot.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about the price of gasoline. If you work in downtown Chicago, you can take public transportation to alleviate the burden a little bit, but those of us who live in the suburbs and do things out in the suburbs need to have our cars to get around. I do try to take shorter trips and make sure that I have a shopping list, and I go to one store instead of three stores. I wish there is something we can do about the high gas prices.

After reading about SouthtownStar’s deliverypeople from other customers, I have to reply. My paper person is the best. Her name is Annette Medrano. She drives up my driveway and throws it on my porch. On a recent morning with the snow and all, it was right at my front door. Also, my sister was handicapped and didn’t walk down her stairs. Annette would get out of her car, stand at the steps and throw it on my sister’s porch. Annette must have been taught by the previous deliverer, Bob Hobbs. He did the same thing. He and Annette are the greatest.
Regarding goofballs: If you think that those who perform in movies are more talented than the rest of us, I suggest you consider actor Bruce Willis’ series of “Die Hard” movies. Here is a guy who plays the same role over and over and gets a large contingent of goofballs to shell out their money to see the same mindless junk again and again. As Yakov Smirnoff, the comedian, says: “What a country!”
I would like to see any member of Congress live on minimum wage for one month. They would be standing in line for Link cards, Section 8 housing and Medicare. It will never happen, so why deprive others?
I think it’s shocking and outrageous to have boxing at the high school level like what is planned at Marian Catholic High School. It’s unbelievable. Who is going to pay for the insurance? There is also going to be beer drinking at the Fight Nights in the school. Give me a break.

The solution for gun control is not more regulations or fees for the law-abiding citizen. The solution is to incarcerate offenders who use a gun while committing any crime — whether it be selling drugs, a sex offense, burglary or anything else — for a minimum of 15 years. This should be across the United States, no matter what the age of the offender. This will definitely stop the violence. I think the Chicago Police Department arrests the same people over and over again. It’s time to keep the bad people behind bars.
