The Holocaust joke that Joan Rivers made was a disgrace. Rivers should be severely punished for that sick statement.
Do we live in another country? If you don’t shovel your snow then we are going to fine you. If you drink bottled water then we are going to tax you. We don’t want you drinking energy drinks so we want to ban it. We wants to tax your cigarettes. I think these people ought to stay out of people’s lives. Don’t tell people what to do. The people will just go other places to do these things anyway and save money doing it. The only thing you are doing is hurting yourself. Figure it out, people!
I didn’t find it totally inappropriate for our first lady, Michelle Obama, to be a part of the Academy Awards. Do you people ever stop hating?
The value of my house has gone down yet my taxes have gone up. I don’t get it. Please explain this to me.
First you had outlaws Bonnie and Clyde. Now you have Sandi and Junior. When is the book going to come out about former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson and her husband, former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.?
Mike P. from Chicago
Not only does our newspaper deliveryman put our Sunday newspaper on the porch but he also puts it in the mailbox during the week. He is fantastic.
I’m a younger Crestwood resident. I see the old Stranczek strategy is in rare form with mayoral candidate Lou Presta catering to the seniors with his free coffee campaign deal. Get your head out of the sand and look around. There are also other people, other than seniors, who live in Crestwood.
U.S. House Speaker John Boehner was asked if he knew the type of effect this sequester would have on jobs. His answer was, “I don’t know.” Come on, Mr. Speaker! I think you know the answer is you don’t care as long as you protect the wealthy and dance to the Tea Party.
Do they think the people are stupid? They just showed where police officers have confiscated more guns. These are the same guns they have been showing. Who are they trying to kid?
There are still good people in the world. I found a wallet at a store. When I got home I called the man to let him know. He came over and got his wallet. The next day in the mail I got a $25 gift certificate to a restaurant.
We already buy the family on welfare pizza along with everything else. That’s workers’ money.
Who are all of these whiners about their newspaper delivery? I have delivered newspapers on and off for more than 10 years. We were never told to put them on porches. We were told to deliver to the driveways. Our bosses used to tell us that you have to pay extra to put it on the porch. These people don’t realize how much effort it takes when you have to deliver 600 newspapers per night. Stop the whining.
A Speak Out commenter criticized Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart’s personal appearance at a meeting. Dart is a conscientious hard worker who is constantly correcting Cook County problems. We are fortunate to have him as our sheriff. We don’t expect him to be a fashion plate.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry promised to give Egypt $190 million to help the government pay its bills. I don’t think I need to say any more. What a joke America has become.

Every day in the news I read about how they are going to release illegal immigrants. What do they mean by release them? Are they just going to open up the door and release them into the streets? They ought to be released into their own countries.
Roughly 35,000 workers from Illinois’ largest employee union — the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees — will receive a 2 percent pay raise in fiscal year 2013. They produce no products. Don’t you wish that when you worked for a bankrupt company that you received a 2 percent raise instead of being laid off? Where do you think Illinois is headed?
FK from Oak Lawn
After our last big snowstorm, I couldn’t help but notice so many snowmen on front lawns throughout our neighborhoods. It was enjoyable to see everyone’s creativeness. Hopefully we can double the amount of snowmen this time around. My compliments to all of you artistic people. You have brought smiles to many faces.
LL from Orland Park
I think there’s a major misunderstanding in America about Social Security. It’s not an entitlement program in any way. Working Americans fund the program. Just look on your pay stubs. I think the government has used it as a piggy bank by borrowing money from it. Now they do not want to pay it back. I cannot take a loan from a bank and later claim I had a lot of other bills to pay so I’m not going to be able to pay you back the full amount. If I can’t get away with it, neither should the government.
I’d like to congratulate all of the police officers from the different units who were over by Chicago Ridge Mall to protect the people from a potential flash mob. The officers acted professionally. It was the safest I’ve ever felt going to a shopping mall. I’d like to know why we don’t treat these punks like the urban terrorists that they are?
