If Illinois raises the speed limit to 70 mph then I think it would make driving less safe, and that would be wrong. Please don’t do it.

At a store the other day, a little boy was screaming his lungs out. Everyone around was stunned. This child was calling his grandma an expletive and threatening her. Grandma did nothing. When this boy is killing animals and humans when he gets older, no one should be surprised. I think it’s non-parenting like this that messes these kids up.

I recently drove past the gasoline station. Gas prices were $4.25 per gallon. What happened? Did someone sneeze in the Middle East again? Did someone stub a toe in Washington, D.C.?

I’m sorry to Phil Kadner but I do not agree with his recent column. I say kudos to Texas Gov. Rick Perry for taking the initiative to point out how badly things really are in Illinois. If I didn’t own a home here in Illinois I would have packed up and dragged my stuff behind me a long time ago. I think Illinois is pathetic. Instead of our politicians, Chicago mayor and governor taking action, they are ridiculing Perry. Take a look at the facts. Illinois is a laughingstock. If I could, I would follow Perry’s plane back to Texas.

I don’t think that secondhand smoke is less dangerous than disinfectant. It’s obviously much more so. Disinfectants don’t seem to cause cancer. Secondhand smoke does.

A lot of people are now questioning whether the Boston marathon bombing suspects could have been stopped. Of course they could have been stopped. If our immigration laws were tougher instead of the liberal swinging door that we have now, I think they could have been stopped. They should not have been allowed back into the United States. I think America knew these guys were trouble, but with our liberal swinging-door policy, we have to let everybody in. And now this moronic government that we have wants to let even more in.

It is supposed to be a safety net, not a hammock.

Finally it’s spring. One reason I know this is because there is no more sleeping late on the weekends because of the lawn mowers.

I think the Founding Fathers would be proud of this generation of Americans. To create a weapon that can shoot 30 bullets in 10 seconds, rather than three balls in 60 seconds, is called innovation. The same Internet that can show you how to build a bomb can show you how to perform a breast self-exam and maybe save your mother’s life. But I think the freedom to choose to not shoot somebody or blow somebody up and continue with your productive and prosperous life is the thing our Founding Fathers would be most proud of.

Congress put a stop to the furloughs of the air traffic controllers that were happening due to the sequester cuts. Why? My main thought is because the furloughs started affecting the travelling of the rich. I guess some of the congressmen had flight delays. So when a crisis hits home then it’s time for action.

When all of the nations of the world now find themselves in an economic black hole, their one big idea to get out of the mess is to increase exports so their unemployed citizens can find employment. The only problem with this is that if everyone is exporting then who will import? The United States has a huge trade deficit. Global trade must be fair and balanced. Otherwise, the poor will multiply and the concentration of wealth will enslave the world.

This Crestwood tainted water scandal is really something. What about all of the people who ate in restaurants that used Crestwood water? Can they sue also if they get sick? This is really bad.

It’s even more disturbing how you pro gay marriage people insist on forcing your beliefs on the rest of us. We never said gay marriage will destroy the human race. But if you think it will improve it, I think you’re crazy. We’re on the wrong side of history, you say? Try reading the Bible to see what God thinks about that. Also, I don’t think you should compare us to racists. I believe being gay is a choice; being a different race is not. We are all entitled to our own beliefs so please stop your religious bigotry.

More women are having cosmetic surgery done on their arms because they are inspired by first lady Michelle Obama. Why do we have to do things because we are inspired by others? Just simply please yourself.

When did it come to be that to live in an well-kept neighborhood it had to be a high-priced neighborhood?

It’s hard to use the turn signal because people speed up and block you when you’re trying to change lanes.

Rick from Evergreen Park

I’m all for helping the needy but I think people on welfare who keep having more kids abuse the benefits.

I, for one, am tired of all of the bickering about the Wrigley Field renovations. All I hear is we must preserve its history. I think most, if not all, would agree this is a history that should be forgotten.

Thank goodness for the sunshine and finally some warmer weather. I can’t believe some other places are still getting snow. It’s May after all. One of my favorite things to do is sit on my patio and just soak in the beauty of nature.
