I’m a healthy senior citizen, but it gets my goat when I see a Corvette parked in a handicapped parking spot. I cannot get in and out of a Corvette. How does a disabled person do so?
Regarding Running for Hope: I would like to thank the two ladies that were assigned as volunteers at the intersection of 98th Street and Keeler Avenue for their safety duties for the participants of the race and the nonstop cheering of all runners or walkers as they approached the finish line. I have never seen, in the past three years, the volunteers cheering the participants on as much as they did. Good job, ladies! I am sure we all appreciated your efforts.

I’ve come to the conclusion that most Orland Park-area folks are nothing but whiners and complainers. It’s another day and another complaint about roadwork there. I’m not from Orland, but the construction in recent years at 159th Street and LaGrange Road and the 143rd Street and LaGrange Road triangle area never stopped me from shopping at stores in Orland Park. Nor will the current roadwork stop me from coming to the area. Maybe 10 to 15 minutes was added to my trip in the area as I avoided construction areas or skirted them at the busiest parts of the day.
Ken from Crete said minimum wage jobs are not permanent, and you should move on to higher-paying jobs. Where are all these higher-paying jobs? Many good jobs have been shipped overseas. Manufacturing jobs in America seem to be gone. Even college-educated people can’t find jobs. Wages have remained stagnant over the past 30 years. All the wealth goes to the top in this country. Until corporations start to spread and share the wealth with all employees and not just the top executives, the middle class will continue to decline and the welfare state will increase.
Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan aka Mr. “I’m too good for the citizens of Illinois” Madigan, showed his arrogance and condescending attitude about the financial plight of his state by not showing up at a scheduled meeting with Gov. Pat Quinn. Madigan’s spokesperson said he doesn’t have a cellular phone. Really? I think Madigan has put Illinois on the brink of bankruptcy by his inaction over the last three decades. Why is everyone afraid of this big bad wolf? He has to go. He probably will of his own volition before Illinois goes bankrupt. Congratulations, Madigan, for ruining our state.
I’m tired of President Obama referring to himself as the commander in chief. If he really is, he would know what is going on in the White House. He stated he did not know about the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting. He is supposed to be running America. Our country should be thinking about impeachment. There is too much at stake for there to be an incompetent leader of the United States who seems to ignore our constitutional laws, bypasses Congress and thinks he can get away with passing his own rules and regulations. Where is the Supreme Court on this?

It’s embarrassing to see national news reporting that Chicago had several people killed and many more wounded over a recent weekend. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel needs to stop looking to beautify the city and start doing what he should have done a long time ago: bring in the National Guard. Durn having pride. Take action.

As a follow-up to Tom from Oak Forest’s comment about tailgaters, if the tailgater is in such a god-awful hurry, why doesn’t the tailgater move over to another lane? Most often, those that tailgate are usually going faster than the speed limit. It’s just another way of pompous immature jerks intimidating other drivers.

The prosecutors for former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife, former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson, shouldn’t want anything less then 10 years in jail for their sentence. As far as Jesse’s bipolar disorder, once he found out he was being watched, only then did he decide to go to the doctors and say that he was bipolar. This is so wrong.
When is Oak Forest going to catch up with all the surrounding neighborhoods and build a decent indoor sports complex? I’m tired of sending my kid to the Orland and Tinley areas and paying out-of-neighborhood rates to give him a safe place to be.
Rob from Oak Forest
Wow! Our government is now listening to our calls, following us online and, of course, taking all our money on taxes and letting everyone come to America where there is free everything but, yet, this is the best country.
To the commenter from Chicago saying that watching the Jodi Arias trial was a waste of time: Please tell me you do not own a television.
God is good. God is great. God created the angel Lucifer, the angel of light. Lucifer became the devil, which is evil, so God created evil. What?
It’s really lousy when a Chicago team is competing in playoffs but you cannot watch the games unless you have cable television. Contrary to what the fans would like to believe, it’s all about money.
When life gets you down, try to remember the good things in your life. We never know when it can all be taken away. It’s amazing what a little perspective brings.
