Let me speak on concealed carry from a customer’s point of view. Remember, some five years ago, when the U.S. Supreme Court allowed Chicagoans to have handguns in their homes and there was an uproar among liberals that the town would become the Wild West and what a disaster it would be?
Well, that never happened, and that noise quickly died down. I was a student in a Chicago handgun class, and every single one of my fellow students was serious about learning how to shoot. No cowboys.
The people who make ridiculous assumptions about what will happen should take a real look at the citizens who are trying to abide by the law.
As for training, I have to agree with Chicago police Supt. Garry McCarthy that we in Illinois should have better gun training, but requiring 16 hours is way too much.
