I wonder how much it cost the American people for first lady Michelle Obama to come to Chicago to see Beyonce in concert for one day.
The question was asked if New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner has cheated on his wife, Huma Abedin, by sexting. I’ve been married for 34 years so I think I can say with some authority that yes, he has. If he had only done it a couple of times, then no. Unfortunately, he sexted many women over many years. He obviously has no respect for his wife and doesn’t care about her feelings. He has cheated mentally. His mind and heart are not in his marriage.
About lawmakers suing Gov. Pat Quinn: Will I be able to sue my boss for lost pay like the “lawmakers” are? If I did, I would be fired in a minute. So, Governor, will you fire the lawmakers?
I think the Rev. Michael Pfleger has worked tirelessly and has dedicated his life to God and helping the people of St. Sabina Church. He has kept the gangs at bay. I believe he received little or no help from the city of Chicago or the church. He perseveres through the tragedy the United States has created for black Americans. When will the injustice and hate cease for these people?
I’m tired of answering the telephone where they start speaking to you in Spanish first. I thought we live in the United States and English was the language. I have asked if they have anybody there who speaks Polish, German, Lithuanian, Greek or any other language. They said no. I would like to know why they are favoring Spanish-speaking people and not other nationalities. It’s even on canned and boxed goods. Why are they favoring one and discriminating against the others?
Regarding famous female chefs: Did you ever notice how many female chefs have long, beautiful hair that is constantly being brushed to the side with their hands? They do look beautiful, but I’d rather not have germs on the hands that prepare or serve the food. I see young girls (beautiful girls, beautiful hair) taking orders and carrying trays all while brushing their hair out of their face and away from their eyes. I don’t want to go back to the old and ugly hairnet days in restaurants, but come on now. Management should be able to think of something.

How dare Gov. Pat Quinn sign this stupid airport bill? The people don’t want the airport in Peotone. The airlines don’t want it. And the state of Illinois is flat broke with $154 billion in debt and climbing including the pension mess. Quinn has a lot of nerve. He should be impeached because he’s a moron.

I thought they said they had all of these gangs under control. There were numerous shootings, several people declared dead and many wounded during the July 4 weekend. Now some people are standing up in their cars and shooting. I think it’s time for a change. I think we need someone in there who knows what they are doing. It seems like Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy are not controlling anything. They talk a big battle but they fight a little war.
Failed parents take aid and Link cards from dependent children and spend the money on iPhones and unlimited TV channels while not feeding their children. That’s child abuse. I only have channel 2 to channel 22 on my television, 200 minutes on my cellular phone and no Internet because I’m retired and on a small budget.
To Hank from Blue Island: George Zimmerman had a choice. After calling police, he should’ve followed their directive not to follow Trayvon Martin. George wasn’t a policeman but a neighborhood watch volunteer. Had he stayed in the car, there wouldn’t have been a confrontation. Neither would’ve had to defend their lives. The jury didn’t consider Zimmerman not following the police’s directions and breaking the law and an unarmed young man being dead. Whether the victim be black or white, your happiness is misplaced. Pray you or your family or friends are never in a similar situation where directives are ignored.

Kudos to Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery for not extending any of the football players’ contracts until the end of the season. That’s what I call motivation. I think all professional athletes should have the same thing. Why give them big huge salaries and then they turn out to be flops? If they do well then give them a reasonable raise.

As a taxpayer I don’t have any problem paying for “read’n write’n and arithmetic,” but I don’t feel taxpayers should pay for football, baseball or basketball or band. The kids should wash cars or shovel snow or raise funds some other way. Give the money to educators.

I was in Will County where I paid 50 cents less per gallon for gasoline than I did in the south suburbs of Cook County. When I was in Indiana, I paid 45 cents less per gallon. Everybody likes to blame the oil companies for high gas prices, but I think we should start looking at our local Illinois politicians who are taking too much money from the oil companies for themselves. I think we are being sold out by the politicians and not so much by the oil companies.
Sometimes it blows my mind that we live in Chicago, the third-largest metropolis in America.
