On Sept. 26, 2013, Cook County Judge Neil Cohen ruled that Gov Pat. Quinn's decision to halt lawmaker pay over the pension crisis is unconstitutional and has ordered Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka to pay them immediately. (AP Photo/M. Spencer Green, File)

Gov. Pat Quinn’s correct. The people back withholding deadbeat legislators’ pay. Let’s fire Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton, who have messed with taxpayers.
I’m going on watching professional baseball for over 50 years. I’ve seen the greats play: Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, Sandy Koufax, Pete Rose and many more. I used to marvel at their skill and commitment to the game. I even marvelled at the big money they were paid way back when. However, my zeal for watching baseball went out the window. I can safely say I’ve witnessed the worst brand of baseball this year in Chicago than in all my past years. I plain stopped watching.
Regarding who’s to blame: It’s nice to see the majority of Americans do it. With the federal government shutdown on Oct. 1st, they will place the blame where it belongs: on the Republican Party and the Tea Party. It’s about time that the Tea Party and conservative Republicans take credit for the work they do or, in this case, lack of it.
What will it take to get people to understand that any games including slots favor the house in a gambling establishment? If they didn’t, casinos couldn’t stay in business. Please, enough of the complaints from the folks who have money to burn. I mean, they must have more money than they know what to do with if they can waste it on gambling.
About assistance and public awareness: Now that Oak Forest Medical Center is back into 24-hour service, maybe it would be a good gesture to let it be known that it exists because it is located beyond the entrance and in the rear of the building. Public awareness needs to be put into action. Welcome back!

I think the people of America are fed up with fighting foreign wars. President Obama has no sons or daughters to go fight. The majority of these politicians have no sons or daughters to go fight, yet they want to send us to go fight and be killed in a foreign land. Enough is enough! We are not even out of Afghanistan yet. You have a lot of nerve sticking your nose into something again that doesn’t concern you, Mr. President.

Tinley Park’s new name is Dead Trees Park. I see dead trees all over the place.
According to a study, American students ranked 25th in math and 17th in science compared to other countries, yet we are spending more money. We should be emphasizing quality over quantity. We protest and march for money and other benefits but not for quality education. Something is wrong with this picture.

I can’t think of a better place to get an opinion. If you caught a Peeping Tom at 6 a.m. on a Sunday at your door, how would you feel? And if the police told you that the guy has been picked up several times but has never done anything harmful, would you feel relieved or would you feel like it’s a harmful situation waiting to happen?
One of the finest Palos Heights dining establishments is Mama Vesuvio’s East. They host many occasions such as funeral luncheons, weddings, showers and baptisms, not to mention many school functions for football, volleyball, basketball, fundraisers, etc. Many have asked why they don’t have slot machines. If they are spending money for good food, entertainment, etc., why can’t they have the full package, not to mention revenue coming into Palos Heights? All cities have revenue needs. Help Palos Heights to help each business and vice versa. So many go into other communities to play slots. Why not keep the dollars here?

Aristotle observed that democracy requires a large middle class. It’s difficult to maintain a middle class when government is bleeding the taxpayer. Every time the government increases taxes on the rich, they pass tax deductions only the rich can use. The burden falls on the middle class again. This is the result of a professional political class making deals with special interest groups to perpetuate their existence by buying votes with taxpayer money. Political offices are passed down the generations as in Illinois. We need to eliminate the professional political class through term limits and surveillance by the educated electorate.
The Orland Park atheist said it was ridiculous to believe God created the Earth in six days. When shown that a day to God is not the same as a human day, this atheist said the math doesn’t add up. This atheist knows the Bible says man was created on the sixth day and we’re in the seventh day of rest. We have around 6,000 years of human existence, which shows that each creation day was 6,000 years since we’re still in the day of rest. Atheists have a hard time understanding this since they believe in only things seen.
