Forum: No porn in library

Updated: January 19, 2014 12:14PM

A library is a place of public sanctuary, a place akin to a church or school in that learning in peace and quiet should take place. I’d like to thank every library for its services in promoting intellectual pursuits that positively advance productive learning and curiosity for the truth.

All libraries that have a section/computers that allow the viewing of pornography are going against the fundamental principles of why a library exists at all. Tax dollars should not go for these forms of degrading entertainment. They are disrespectful to both men and women, an aberration to their dignity and personhood.

Further, it does not take long for young adults to notice that a section of the library is off limits to them. It will arouse their curiosity, and once known, they will want to see what the adults see.

Libraries that allow porn to be viewed openly are on a slippery slope to destruction. That kind of material should be bought by the person who wants it and not permitted by a public library, using public funds to enable certain people to feed their sick addictions.
