In my 44 years of taking part in various protests, I have never seen the Chicago police behave more professionally than during the NATO protests.
Youngsters taunting police fail to realize that successful, relatively bloodless revolutions involve winning over the police and military to the point where they refuse to shoot protesters, as was the case in the Arab Spring and in the collapse of the Soviet Union.
With threats to their pensions, health care and ability to send their kids to college, many police will realize that their interests coincide more closely with the Occupy movement than with the power structure. Why alienate the police, our future brothers and sisters?
