I’m writing about the recent Chicago Sun-Times story on Chicago Ald. Edward Burke (14th) and how his law firm is seeking to get about $11 million from the city in property tax refunds for major businesses.
The front page photo was of Mr. Burke with that smug smile of his that says it all — he thinks he’s the most powerful individual in the United States, more so than the president.
The president has to account for his actions, Mr. Burke does not. Power, nepotism, arrogance, all wrapped into one.
When the TV show “Boss” was casting for the mayor of Chicago, how could it overlook Mr. Burke? He would need no acting lessons, just be himself.
