The Republican Party — which trumpets itself as the family values, pro-life, pro-military party — insisted, like a spoiled baby, on shutting down the U.S. government to spite the president.
So veterans had to wait for much-needed checks.
While the Republicans punished the country for political reasons, they cut millions from the food stamp program so that the 16 million children living in poverty (U.S. Census statistics) could starve to make sure that we all know the Republicans meant business.
It’s the old story of tough love.
Love for corporations and banks, and tough for anyone else, especially the poor.
