For years, Oak Lawn has had a perfectly good emergency siren that warned us of impending bad weather. Every Tuesday at 10 a.m., it went off to let us know everything was working.
Like so many things, it got old and worn out and needed replacing. But leave it to government to replace it with one that blabs four languages, none of which can be understood.
Please tell me if something spoken is necessary when the sky is greenish black, there is torrential rain and hail and the wind is blowing at 60 mph.
If you live here and can’t speak simple English or don’t comprehend the warning system, get educated!
