I just watched James Cagney sing and dance in “Yankee Doodle Dandy.” What a talent! He never once said the F word, spit or grabbed himself inappropriately. What’s happened to the United States?

The sincerest of thanks to the young man named Richard who came to my rescue on the morning of May 27 in the Walgreens parking lot at Archer and Harlem avenues. I had a flat tire, and I am not capable of changing a tire. He was asked to help and without any hesitation he changed the tire and asked for nothing. I am forever grateful. Thanks, Rich.

I have been a lifelong fan of the Chicago White Sox since I was a kid growing up in Evergreen Park. I even hopped the fence to get a brick from the old Comiskey Park. I just want to say I love watching Sox games and listening to Ken “Hawk” Harrelson. The Hawk makes even a slow game interesting. Let’s go South Side!

Now that President Obama has changed his position on same-sex marriage, it makes you wonder what else he is going to change his position on after the election.

To the politicians of Cook County: Why is the vehicle sticker price $80 for unincorporated residents but lower for other areas? I guess we are special, or maybe we live on special land. You should be ashamed for doing this with the way the economy is.

Every time I watch television or open a newspaper I see that Illinois wants more casinos or gaming machines to balance this budget or that budget. Illinois doesn’t care how gambling ruins families and causes divorces and the deterioration of our society. Gambling is worse than alcohol and cigarettes combined because everybody thinks he can get rich. It’s like an incurable cancer to the human race.

Not only do the incompetent politicians of this state and country negatively affect your way of life, but we have to suffer for every counterpart inept and greedy politician in Greece, Spain and Italy. This world, through abject greed, is falling into an abyss. The poor everyday person, who worked and minded his or her business, now pays while the scoundrels make off with their nefarious gains.

The Koziols are like the Kardashians. They’re both always in the news, and nobody knows why.

Our Theo Epstein who art in Wrigley Field, hallowed was thy name. You came into town wearing a frown. Now you’re not around. The more you spoke, the more they listened. The more they listened, the less they heard. The season was hung on every word. The fans began to gloat. Sadly, now the only one winning is the goat.

To all the people whose jobs have been outsourced or eliminated: Don’t take it personally. It’s just business.

The Chicago Police Department did a wonderful job during the NATO Summit. The liberal news media sickened me with their coverage. Why can’t they pat the police on the back instead of constantly bashing them? The police were putting their lives on the line against these protester fools.

I was very disappointed that there was no communication from Tinley Park village officials regarding mob action at a local restaurant. We get calls about Little League parades but nothing when our safety is at stake. I thought Tinley Park had a marketing department. I want to know who dropped the ball and who should be held accountable to local constituents about the lack of communication. This is unacceptable.

I would rather have as my commander in chief a person who risks their own money and succeeds than one who risks my money and fails.

The baby born addicted to drugs deserves a good life. All states should jail the mothers and fathers, if they can find them, so they can think about what they have done. I am tired of these people making bad choices and then it being described as a “brain disease.” I live it every day with a female family member whose fetus died at six months into the pregnancy. Her doctor and the coroner just turned their heads. It makes me sick to think of the life this baby will really have.

There is money out there. President Obama’s and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s campaigns have raised millions in just one month. Yet we have laid off teachers, police officers and firefighters because we say that we cannot afford to pay them. What is wrong with this picture?

To the Speak Out commenter who talked about handpicked high school baseball teams: Many players are starters their freshmen and sophomore years, but players get better and competition increases on varsity. Give other players more credit. Some players don’t make the team freshmen year, then go on to play in college. I played Division 1 baseball myself. You obviously think your son should be playing, as would any other parent, but you are not the coach. Coaches do make mistakes, but if you or your son have a problem, talk to the coach and not the newspaper.

Thank goodness for friends. Where would we be without them?
