Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers has donated $250,000 to the University of North Carolina for scholarships for African-Americans. This is a very noble act. But what if a Caucasian player made a similar donation to be used for only Caucasians. How big of a backlash would there be?

How do the Caterpillar workers feel? They went on strike due to greed. It seems like they came away with less than what they had before. Maybe this will teach you a lesson. Be thankful you have a job.
I have a 1957 Chevy convertible. It’s a beautiful car. It’s in mint condition. I would like to ask the politicians if they can give me a marriage licence so I can marry my car because I love it.

I did buy some corn at the farm on 151st Street and 80th Avenue. It is out of this world. All of the other produce is very fresh. I highly recommend that people go there.
To deny evolution is like claiming you can build a skyscraper by starting with the roof and working your way to the foundation.

The 2010 congressional election was decided by uninformed, gullible and naive voters who were influenced by the phrase “Let’s take back our country.” The 2012 election will hopefully be decided by a similar catchphrase: “Let’s give back to our country.” It’s time for the 1 percent to pay their fair share.
What is up with this Drew Peterson trial? Did somebody pay off these prosecutors to purposely screw up to let this guy off for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio? I haven’t seen such flubbing. How inept are these prosecutors? The judge is just getting more and more ticked off. This trial is a joke. Peterson is going to walk.
Try Menards. They always have made-in-the-USA sales. They sell thousands of items made in America. It’s a great store to shop at and they are priced right.

In the old days we talked about the haves and the have-nots. Now it’s the 1 percent vs. the 99 percent. My question is: What percentage of the 1 percent are Democrats and what percentage are Republicans? That would be an enlightening piece of information.

We seniors are getting the short end of the stick. I’m disabled, a senior and having a hard time. Most of us get $16 per month on the Link card. It is really hard on us especially when the taxes go up.
How can we compare a pistol with an assault weapon? They are both dangerous weapons, only one doesn’t have to be reloaded as often.
Gary Sinise’s favorite talent is using the Lt. Dan Band to entertain the servicemen in the field and in the hospitals. He wears his heart on his sleeve. We Chicagoans have much to be proud of. I salute you for all you have given to your fans and your country. Gary is one proud American.

I don’t believe Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle is evil, but I do believe she is a typical Cook County politician who simply doesn’t want to retire even though she is old enough and rich enough to retire. That is the problem with Cook County. It’s not if you are evil or not. It’s just how greedy you are going to be and how long 60-, 70- and 80-year-old politicians are going to hold on to office. Do you want to solve the unemployment problem? If you can retire then retire. That goes for politics and the private sector.
Tom from Burbank
One of my pet peeves is when I’m driving and people ride on my bumper. I don’t know what they are teaching in driver’s education class, but the first thing they should teach you is not to ride so close. If you are late and in a hurry, that’s your problem. This is not NASCAR or Formula 1 where you have to drive 2 feet from someone’s bumper. You are driving on residential streets.
Do you think the Chicago Cubs kiddie corps is really miserable? I do. Next time you watch these clowns on television, pay attention to the coaching staff and the marvelous managers they’ve hired. I have never seen such incompetent coaching and managing on any professional baseball team yet. How can a team possibly win when you have that kind of leadership.
I hope that one day I and my fellow Americans can have the same kind of health care as U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk and Cardinal Francis George have. We are not able to have his kind of health care now because there is no equality in health care in this country. Either you have it or you don’t. When you do have it you are paying an extraordinary amount of money for limited coverage.
Mark from Hickory Hills
God is not the sadist. The people who do not follow God’s law become the sadists.
It’s too bad celebrity Jenny McCarthy wasn’t thinking about the family values that she mentioned in her Daily Splash column when she posed for Playboy. Now she wants Chicago to embrace her as she graciously moves back. What a phony! I don’t think she has ever donated a nickel to her alma mater Mother McAuley High School, which she embarrassed.
I enjoy walking around the suburbs whenever the weather and my schedule permits, but I get frustrated at the lack of sidewalks. I can’t even imagine how I would get to some places if I was disabled and trying to maneuver.
