It was great to see people turn out for the fourth annual Wounded Warrior Motorcycle Run despite the rain. It’s our duty to honor and show respect to our military whenever we can.

The answer to eliminating violence and shootings is stop paying 14-year-old girls to have babies. If the mother needs more money, she has another baby. Her grandmother can’t take care of five kids under 5 years old. In many of these families, Mom is out partying and there is no father. It’s no wonder there is no respect for life. No one is teaching young people to not have babies unless you can pay for them. We need to give more respect for life. All they know is the government will pay for you to have unlimited children. That’s nuts.

Diana from Orland Park

I’m going to go crazy if I read one more comment whining about the rich corporations. I’ve worked for them. Corporations employ tons of people. Maybe a few at the top make some big money. All this fairness talk has gone too far. It’s supposed to be about fair opportunity, not equal outcome. The guy who splits the atom makes more than the guy who washes the floor. Wake up, or we will be like Cuba. But that seems to be what the Democrats want.

Tom from Worth

To the poor Chicago White Sox fans: Try getting your own fans to show up before you try to get Chicago Cubs fans to show up to White Sox games. The Jumbotron, fireworks and food must not be that great when your guys will not even show up.

Tony from Homewood

I don’t lie or cheat, but I can be taught to. I think I’ll run for political office somewhere. I might as well get on the gravy train. Lawyers used to be the most despised profession. They look like little lambs compared to politicians now.

Bob from Oak Forest

I’ll bet there are no atheists in foxholes.

I think Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis needs to be replaced. It seems all she is interested in is money and not the children who the teachers are supposed to be teaching. She is arrogant and rude. She doesn’t care what happens to the children. All she wants is money. I would not tolerate her ignorance.

If the aim of WGN-AM (720) was to ruin the radio station, then they have succeeded. Former morning host Greg Jarrett was an excellent and knowledgeable host. Now they have a senseless program.

Marge from Lemont

I want somebody to tell me what is the fair share when it comes to the 1 percent. All I hear is about fair share, but they never tell me an amount or percentage. I think everybody in the United States should pay the same tax rate. The top 1 percent already pay a fortune in taxes.

Is anybody really serious about ridding steroids or performance-enhancement drugs from sports? They don’t seem to want to. As long as homers are flying out of the baseball stadium or records are being broken by the next hot athlete or someone famous is riding a bicycle faster than anyone else, money will be made. As long as money is being made, nobody cares about illegal enhancements. Nobody will care about cheating as long as money is being made.

Answer me this question: Are illegal and undocumented workers still only taking jobs that Americans don’t want to do?

On Election Day I’m going to walk into the polling place with my photo identification in my hand and declare that I’m a veteran, I served my community in law enforcement for 31 years and I’m proud to verify that I should be voting. I’m sick of this corruption in Crook County.

We need an aggressive attorney general who will arrest, fine and put away criminals on Wall Street and corporations and the congressmen who illegally serve them.

A Speak Out commenter said they believe same-sex marriage is abnormal and tried to put it on the same level of perversion as pedophilia or prostitution. The big difference is that same-sex marriage hurts no one. Pedophilia has a tragic outcome for children. Prostitution hurts the wives of men who are having unprotected sex as well as the prostitutes who are beaten and murdered. There is no logic in comparing these lifestyles.

Patricia from Hometown

How can you commit fraud in one school district and just move over to another district and do the same thing? Who is watching the henhouse? It seems like the foxes themselves are keeping check and making sure they are receiving a profit every time the hen lays an egg.

The only thing President Obama has accomplished is raising money for his re-election campaign.

To Melissa from Orland: I’d say that celebrity Jenny McCarthy’s return to Chicago has less to do with returning to her roots and more to do with she’s 40 years old and jobs in Hollywood are harder to get.

Palos Heights

BP has a problem with their gasoline and it seems like the price of gasoline goes up for all brands. There’s a hurricane in New Orleans, and the price of gas goes up. Our real estate taxes go up and my house needs a new furnace. Where do we go for help? Can I ask BP for help?

George from Burbank

When it comes to summer, one of the things I’ll miss most is all of the fresh fruit and vegetables that were available and homegrown. It always makes me smile when my dad brags about his garden.
