Dogs can relieve themselves at a dog park. Bags are provided to pick up after them. But watch kids, as a dog park is not a kids park.
To the nonbelievers: Thank God for the Houston Astros or the Chicago Cubs would be the worst team in baseball.

Regarding a possible great job opportunity: I am currently unemployed, but I promise to line my yard and cover my windows with signs, put stickers on my car, and campaign tirelessly for any politician — local, state or federal — of either party who can find me a $65,000-a-year job with a great pension and full benefits. Oh, wait! I forgot you have to be related to them first.
More on cemetery vandalism: If what happened to the gravestone of Hassan M. Abdallah in Evergreen Cemetery is found to be a hate crime, the FBI should be called into the investigation. Perhaps the sheriff should ask President Obama for a grant to form armed security teams for returning combat veterans who cannot find jobs and put them on guard duty in cemeteries where vandalizing creeps like to play games.

It is surprising that our local networks even bothered broadcasting the Republican National Convention. The people of Illinois know exactly where their electoral votes will be going on Nov. 6, which is why the candidates are not spending their time or money here. It is even more discouraging, considering our state’s unemployment rate and depressed housing market.

Now the Chicago Teachers Union wants to run the Chicago Public Schools system. It’s another case of the tail wanting to wag the dog. I find it hard to believe that teachers need a union. Teachers claim to be professionals. Do doctors and lawyers have a union? Let the teachers strike. Then maybe they will realize that these are hard times.
I heard on the news that the government is going to check and make sure that oil companies are not price gouging gasoline because Hurricane Isaac closed many of the offshore wells. What do they think the oil companies have been doing for the last two years? Gas should be at least $1 cheaper now than it already is. The oil companies will up the price on gas for any reason they can.

This is to the ex-Catholic who is now an atheist. Almighty God gave you a free will. Unfortunately, you are not making a good choice at this time. I hope you see the light before you leave this earth. There is a heaven and hell and some people will be in purgatory until the end of the world. I will keep you in my prayers so you return to be a Catholic.
People aren’t glad to hear about Jenny McCarthy coming back because she moved to Los Angeles to break into entertainment. She’s getting old, can’t find a boyfriend and needs money, so she’s coming back to Chicago and we’re expected to be excited about it and proud, as if she really did something? She has no talent, is not sexy and is crude. Everyone knows what she is and what she’s done to get where she got. People experience some discomfort upon having her speak to the media and it’s revealed publicly to others that she is from Chicago, our hometown.
Hope and change. Really, President Obama? Really? Fool me once; shame on you. Fool me twice; shame on me. Let’s all wake up and smell the coffee. This coming election is not about Democrat vs. Republican. This coming election is about what is truly right vs. what is truly wrong for the United States and our country’s constitutional way of living.

I guess parenting is a disability because I saw a perfectly able-bodied family of four use the handicapped parking spot at the ice cream parlor.
Don’t feel too sorry for the children getting meals. Go to a school in the so-called underprivileged areas and check out the dumpsters. You likely will find tons of untouched food. These children either don’t like or want the food so our hard-earned money is in the Dumpster.

To the person who thought they answered the question about the person throwing his trash where it does not belong: The question was not what to do. I know what could be done. The question was: What do you think of a person like that?
Why are all the Cook County people going to Indiana to gamble when we have two casinos in Joliet and one in Aurora? Is it that the odds of a better deal are found in Indiana and no matter how many casinos you put here, they will go where the money is. Or is it that it’s only the politicians who want the new casinos for the kickbacks?

My wife had an aunt who recently passed away. The aunt had over $250,000 in a checking account. That account paid paltry interest of less than $2,000 a year. It is a shame that old folks believe banks are safe places to put their money. They might be physically safe and insured, but banks sure rip off old folks who don’t know they can put their money in other safe places to earn real income to live on. I suppose it isn’t in the best interests of the bank honchos to tell old folks that, so that’s why they don’t.
Thank goodness for three-day weekends. For people who work long hours day in and day out, holiday weekends are just what we need to recharge.
