Who’s watching Fox’s new season of “The X Factor”? Some people may grumble at all the hype, but I’m looking forward to seeing what they do for season two.
The Wendy’s in Hickory Hills was recently closed for six weeks for a full remodel. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. It’s so modern and spacious, complete with flat-screen televisions. It’s nice to see the businesses in Hickory Hills spending money to upgrade their facilities. It makes the town look that much nicer.

If the Baseball Hall of Fame allows one steroid user then they should change the name to the Hall of Shame. I think Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro and Mark McGwire are all sleazy guys who were being paid millions and still cheated their fans and baseball. Throw out their records now. Wake up, MLB commissioner Bud Selig!
What is the big problem with the children being out of school during the teachers’ strike in Chicago? They didn’t have a problem finding someone to watch their children during summer vacation. What is the difference?
The only thing in President Clinton’s speech at the Democratic National Convention that I found good was when the crowd made a lot of noise and he stopped talking.

At first I was against the teachers. I though it was all about greed. However, their problems didn’t just happen overnight. These problems have been swept under the rug for years. Teachers have a right to have smaller classrooms, air conditioning, more social workers and school nurses.

When you renew your license plates, why do they verify that your car has passed the emissions test yet they don’t check to see if you have updated insurance?
I’d like to thank Tinley Park for bringing in the quiet zones. The only problem is the people who drive these trains must have some kind of grievance against Tinley Park because now it seems like the horns have become worse. They are running these horns from the intersections for minutes afterward. I wish these people lived by the trains so they can listen to the horns as they blow.
I think it’s time for the taxpayers to go on strike.
I want the United States of America to succeed. I don’t give a damn about any individual in government succeeding. I don’t care if the president doesn’t get one thing his way. I care about the average non-famous citizen living a normal life.
What is the latest lie that made the gasoline prices go up 22 cents in two days? Is it another pipeline problem? Did the president have a cold? Or is it some other thing?
Illinois only has one political party. They are all the same and in it together. If you think there are two parties, you are sadly mistaken.
I don’t think a principal should have the power to hire or fire a teacher. What if the principal doesn’t like the teacher? I think they are on the wrong track with this.
Guns don’t kill people. People kill people. Our politicians should work on a concealed-carry law to help the safety of the people in Illinois. All you hear about on television at night is gun shots in the city. The only people who have guns are the cops and the bad guys. They don’t want to allow the common citizen to have guns. It’s wrong.
Does anyone want to live in a crime-free neighborhood? Maybe take a look at Crete, Steger or South Chicago Heights. We have no crime in the police blotter in the SouthtownStar, so apparently those neighborhoods are crime-free zones.
Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has requested the fans keep quiet when they’re in the red zone. Just wait until you play the Green Bay Packers. Do you think the fans in Green Bay are going to keep quiet just because you asked? I really hope this is part of some reverse-psychology strategy for the Bears vs. Packers game.
You have to find a way to increase incoming revenue in order to pay off debt or you lose your business. It’s either that or you have to make cuts to decrease the overhead. The only way a city or state can increase revenue to pay for schools and teachers is to raise taxes. It’s either that or make cuts.
I wish the Will County Republicans and Tea Party people would publicize their meetings and rallies so those of us who are living under this corrupt Cook County government can come and join in with them. It’s like living in Berlin during the divided times of the Cold War. I can see Will County, but here I am stuck in Cook County.

We are entitled to Social Security. But we are not entitled to a welfare system, the Link card or other freebies.
In every other job you can be evaluated to see if you even deserve a raise. These teachers are fighting against evaluations. How do we know if you deserve the raise you’re fighting for?
I was surprised at the lack of 9/11 events to mark the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers. I salute all of you who flew the flag in honor of the Americans we lost on 9/11.
