I am here to agree with the person commenting on the water-downed gasoline. I agree that it seems like it burns faster now.

Thank you to the person who paid for my coffee at the Dunkin’ Donuts, 127th Street and Cal Sag Road, Crestwood, in the drive-through line on Sept. 19. It really brightened my day and prepared me for my day of work teaching. You are forever my coffee angel.

Michelle L.

With the sale of his house in Washington, D.C., the only thing left to do for U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. is political posturing. Who can I give the seat up to and what will I get for it? Oh yeah, and don’t indict me for what others did on my behalf and that I knew nothing about, and I will go easier.

Ken from Crete

A Burbank commenter cited Leviticus 20:13 as justification for opposing gay marriage. Then why not take other parts of Leviticus seriously as well? Leviticus 20:9 says, “If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother, and his blood will be on his own head.” Leviticus 20:10 says, “If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife — with the wife of a neighbor — both the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.” If the Bible is God’s word, why is it OK to choose what you believe?

Jeff from Orland Hills

You think Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts were separated at birth? What about the founding member of the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards, and Vice President Joe Biden? They are separated at birth. But “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” from the Speak Out comment referring to the three-letter word of “J-O-B-S.” Come on! Give Mr. Biden a break. His smile is genuine, and he deserves credit for his hard work and dedication to the United States. If we focus on the positive, think how much more we could accomplish. “You Got Me Rocking” mad.

Marjorie T. from Palos Park

Working for schools, we see a lot of waste of parent and taxpayer money. This is in the form of food, etc., in the garbage.

Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland and Village Administrator Jerry Ducay need to come clean and explain why former Police Chief Rob Piscia was able to still get police pension credits after he assumed his new position as the village’s assistant administrator. It seems like another case of a public official padding his pension and cheating the pension fund. Was the Frankfort Village Board sleeping on this agenda, or were they just taking care of one of the good old boys? The police officers bringing this matter up should be commended for their diligence in attempting to protect their pension fund.

I’m not shocked that former Rich Central High School counselor Bryan Craig got dismissed after officials found out about his racy “It’s Her Fault” book. Look at the Rich Township High School District 227 panel that made the decision. Guys, it was mostly females.

Rick from Evergreen Park

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has called himself a venture capitalist. The real name for that is corporate raider.

The mayor, aldermen and all city officials of Markham should be ashamed of themselves for giving John Cappas a permit to glorify his drug days as a kingpin who ruined a lot of people’s lives. To glorify what he did and perpetuate this as OK is wrong. I believe the city’s officials should be held accountable.

The least of my worries is the 1 percent. My concern is when the people living off the government reaches 51 percent. That will signal the collapse of the United States.

I’ve seen many lawn signs at some homes stating that a home is “proud to be union.” I wonder what there is to be proud of. Is it the fact that they belong to an organization that is on the path to demise?

I think objective journalism is rare to nonexistent. Selected facts are coated with the ooze of spin to support the bias and self-serving interests of media owners. Citizens are lazy and too willing to be programmed as hero worshipers. What other excuse is there for what is expended on professional sports? Toss-up elections reflect indifference. Flipping a coin would be a lot cheaper.

Susan from Tinley Park

How can anybody believe what former President Clinton said at the Democratic National Convention? His ability to look right into the camera and allegedly lie about what happened with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky is proof that his believability is gone. They could have used somebody better.

Chicago Heights

Every other job out there is based on how well you do your job and not on how long you’ve been there. The teachers should be judged on job performance and not seniority. Maybe this is the reason ineffective teachers have been able to remain in the system.

A Speak Out commenter stated that one kind of animal becoming a new kind is disputed. Explain, then, why stones becoming bread and water becoming wine is not disputed. The commenter also stated that even if the evidence does support it, blind chance making it is still highly illogical, and logic still says that when something exists it’s because it was created. Why is it not considered illogical then that someone could exist without ever having a father or mother, or any beginning of days?
