Why do pharmaceutical companies make pills for seniors the size of headstones?
OK, people, wake up! Stop touring countries that are burning our American flag. Vacation in the United States. We could use your money, too.

If the U.S. Postal Service is broke maybe they should rethink their holiday freebies. Why are they off on Columbus Day? What other holidays do they get — Casimir Pulaski Day?

I live in Evergreen Park. I’ve passed the union teacher demonstrations and they expect me to sound my car horn in support of them. Heck, have you seen what most of these people make annually? It is public information. I wish I made that when I worked, and for nine months’ effort. Couple that with cushy pensions garnered on the backs of property taxpayers, and you have a real nice deal already. That is why I don’t beep in support of the striking teachers; they already get too much.
Here is an idea for Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf. In order to fill your seats next year, how about offering empty seats for a little bit cheaper after the fifth inning? You’ll have people standing outside trying to get in after the fifth inning for half price. I’d be there in a minute.

Let those would proudly proclaim themselves as pro-choice stop hiding behind this seemingly innocuous label and just say what you really are: pro-death. You are either for abortion or against it. I guess being pro-choice makes a person feel better about being in favor of what abortion really is: murdering unborn children. There it is. Stop using language to mask this horrible procedure.
I see where Will County has presented a balanced budget for 2013. Congratulations. Democrats and Republicans pulled together, eliminated a lot of the overspending, raises and new positions. They worked together. I see Cook County Democrats and unions are trying to get into Will County and change all of that. They want to create another one-party system like they have in Cook County and Chicago where the Democrats and the unions run everything. We out here in Will County don’t want that.
I read the story in the SouthtownStar on Sunday about the Robin Abrams’ murder in 1990. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see all fingers point to her ex-boyfriend Tony Marquez.
I wonder if, as kids, any of our legislators thought that trillions was an unimaginable number?
I’ve noticed many homes with the Proud Union Home sign displayed. If they needed work done on their homes, would they hire a union plumber, bricklayer, electrician, tuck pointer, etc., and pay upwards of $70 per hour (including base wage, pension, annuity, dues, health insurance, federal and state unemployment taxes, workers’ compensation, and federal, Social Security and Medicare taxes)? This does not include any business owner profit or for use of the company vehicles. Or would they hire an uncle or friend of a friend for $20 per hour to do their work on a Saturday as a side job?
When is Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel going to open his eyes and realize the problem is not with Chicago’s gun law? They are not taking the guns away from the gangbangers. All they want to do is take guns away from the legal citizens so that the gangbangers will have more free reign on this city. All we hear from certain high-ranking police officials is nothing but excuses. When are they going to open up their eyes and start really going after the gangbangers?

No teacher ever likes to see children fail. Remember that it all begins at home. One of the biggest problems is there are a lot of parents who are not cooperating and are not involved in their children’s lives. Therein lies the huge problem. All the children who are successful have parents who are involved and the children are working. It starts at home. The teachers are just trying to supplement what is supposed to be coming from the home.
According to the Bible, homosexuality is wrong. Some of you must be rewriting the Bible if you believe otherwise. God does forgive, but you must be willing to accept him and his word. You cannot pick and choose what you want to follow from the Bible just because it does not fit your lifestyle.
Former U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson should step in and be the write-in candidate for U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.’s congressional seat. I think the Democrats did her in as a loser. She would have been a good person to be in that race. That’s politics, I guess. She should be able to get enough votes on her own to take care of the district.

I recently watched the Chicago Cubs beat the Houston Astros, the worst team in baseball. The Cubs ran out onto the field and were celebrating like it was the seventh game of the World Series. I guess that’s as close to the World Series as they are ever going to get. Cubs fans must be easy to please.

Illinois sent out a multipage pamphlet written in political legalese that nobody can understand about this pension fund. What a waste of money! It could have been done in two paragraphs.
