It is nice to drive by a residence with the Nativity on display, reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas. This is in opposition to the homeowners who have circus displays with cartoon characters.
It is tragic about the two teens from Lockport Township High School who were killed in separate automobile accidents. With Road to Reality experiences and driver’s education courses, it seems people still are not wearing seat belts.
Has anyone ever audited the American Red Cross? If not then why not? Show me the money and show me where it goes.

Just how are you going to make sure that the attendees of a gang member’s funeral are immediate family members only? Are you going to ask for identification? It makes sense but it doesn’t make sense.
The hypocrisy of the Illinois Democratic Party has never been more evident than in its handling of the situation involving former U.S. Rep. Jackson Jr. If they knew he was unqualified due to health and legal reasons, why didn’t they speak out before the election and give his constituents the chance to make a good, educated decision on who to elect for their representative? Instead, they kept their mouths shut to make sure he would get elected. I wish somebody would speak out, but I think the media is in the Democrats’ pocket and will not say anything either.
More than a few times I’ve been told that the bad occurrences of now are no different, and no less frequent, than that of the “old days.” The contention is that the current occurrences are more widely reported than in the past. Well, I can tell you all that I’ve lived long enough to contrast now to those old days. My conclusion: Depravation, decadence, hedonism, self-centeredness, greed and a myriad of other social ills are more manifest than ever. We are trending down a path to oblivion. Change people and change soon.
Regarding the hockey lockout: Hey, Chicago Blackhawks fans, don’t forget the Wirtz Corp. and the other owners have had your season-ticket money since last June. And that money is drawing interest and making more money for the owners who think the players are greedy.

Police officers and firemen were not drafted to do their jobs. They are like our beloved veterans in a way. They joined because they were willing to save those in danger. It isn’t just a job. It takes a man or a woman who has courage, wisdom and love to stand up against a wrong and save a life even if they lose their own life. It’s not just a job. If you have a fire or get robbed, will you call 911 for help? You bet you would. We are lucky we have such good police officers and firemen.

I want to thank Wyman & Co. Picture Framing and Art Gallery in Tinley Park. The business does excellent work. Plus, Norman Wyman and his daughter Kathie are just wonderful people. When you walk through their door you seem to go back in time when people were friendlier and life was a little easier.
The Arizona and Texas border patrols are going 24/7 every day of the year confiscating millions of pounds of marijuana. The Arizona and Texas border towns are like war zones. The people in the border towns are terrified. Now our illustrious leaders want to legalize marijuana. Why don’t we all just raise the white flag and surrender and let all of these rats have their way?
I think they should take one part of a cemetery in Newtown, Conn, and devote it just for the children shot at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Put them all in one spot so they can be together like they were in school. And then put up a monument for them just like 9/11. This was a terrible tragedy.
If the proper safety precautions have been built up like the abutments between lanes, then there is no way anyone in a vehicle can cross the train tracks unless they have some Army vehicle that can climb over abutments or blast through the gates that are down. None of these are likely to happen. People are allowed to hit their horns if they see an emergency situation down the way. But there is no need for all of these loud horns day and night when there are no cars anywhere near the vicinity and people have stopped at the gates.
Do you realize what some teachers will do for your children and your family? They stand in front of bullets and try to save your children from insane people. Please keep this in mind when you try to put down a teacher. Let’s lift them up where they need to be lifted. Show them how good they really are. We know most of them really do love the children, which is where we all should be.
I think we should do like the American colonists did during the Boston Tea Party when they took the tea and dumped it in the harbor. We should take our politicians out to the middle of Lake Michigan and dump them.
The free market should bring to consumers a choice of the best goods at fair prices. What we have is the dumping of low-quality junk with the highest markup for monopolist middle men. Consumers ought not to spend their hard-earned money on stuff destined for the landfill in less than six months. There are no longer durable goods. I’m a housewife who is sick of “new” shrunken socks, “new” shredded bed linens and rechargeable batteries that don’t recharge.
