How can state Sen. Donne Trotter not remember that a gun is in his carry-on case? What else has Trotter forgotten for the people of Illinois if he can’t even remember that? Who packed his bag?
Animals don’t need to be destroyed. They need food and shelter until somebody adopts them.

All these shootings are the result of our government taking God out of our schools and our lives. We reap what we sow. We better stand up and take our schools and lives back and give them to God.

Why didn’t the people who performed in the “12-12-12” concert to help the East Coast after Hurricane Sandy just contribute the money instead of what they considered their precious time? They make millions upon millions. If each one contributed some, then there would be enough money to help the East Coast.
What would possess someone to gun down innocent men, women and children indiscriminately without hesitation? Is it due to their mental illness, personal stresses in their life or the 15-minutes-of-fame syndrome? Who really knows? What a terribly sick society we live in now!

The scientist yearns to find and eventually know the truth. The religious man seeks the truth to fit his preconceived mold. As a result, the scientist will alter his perception to conform to the facts, and the religious man tries to change the facts to conform to his beliefs.
I think we are catering to and raising a bunch of crazy people in the United States now. What do you expect when tragedy strikes?
President Obama was keeping a time-honored tradition of the president having lunch with his opponent after the election. President Kennedy initiated this tradition after the 1960 election by inviting Richard Nixon to lunch.
No matter what happens from now on with the Chicago Bears, they ought to clean house. My first candidate would be quarterback Jay Cutler. Now we know why the Denver Broncos so easily got rid of him. We were the losers in that deal.
I guess I don’t understand the idea of an immigrant center. I thought all of the immigrants were welcomed with open arms, get driver’s licenses, jobs, benefits, Social Security and Medicaid. Do they need a center to register for all of these freebies?
With the new year fast approaching, our prayer is to get some of the many problems confronting local and national governments solved. That is what I would like in my Christmas stocking. Is that too big of a request?
It seems like our young people are more violent than they have ever been. We need to ask ourselves why they are so violent. Blaming the guns is the easy way out. Admitting that we as parents are doing something wrong is harder to admit. We have seen a major breakdown of the family in the past 50 years. Kids have no fathers or are being raised by criminals. Kids are being raised by single mothers who bring home man after man. We need to figure out what is going wrong with our youth. Why are they so violent nowadays?
Policemen and firemen are not more important than anyone else. I’m sure most of them will agree with that. The difference is they make a choice to perform these duties knowing that they may have to put their life on the line while everyone else makes the choice not to enter into that service and not face the dangers and toils that come with the experience. For that they need to be applauded and heralded as heroes. They do what many of us chose not to. Where would we be without them?
I think insurance is a scam. Insurance companies lack compassion. They drop you because of a ticket or an accident. Now I find out from my agent that they drop you if you have bad credit. My son had impeccable credit but because of a horrible messy divorce his ex-wife ruined his credit by not paying her mortgage. My insurance representative said to me that nothing stays the same or goes down. Everything goes up. If you have a clear record, then why not?
Before union people get hysterical about new right-to-work laws, they need to take a breath and calm down. All these laws do is prohibit requiring union membership as a condition of employment. You can still join a union if you want. It’s just not a requirement to be hired. It also prevents employers from excluding nonunion workers. I don’t understand why having the choice to join a union irritates the union members so much. I understand why you would believe that such a law is antiunion because the union would lose control of who is hired or fired.
The people of Cook County and Will County need to wake up and use your heads. Vote for the people who are right. Don’t just vote for who the Democratic machine tells you to vote for. Use your head. Crooked politicians, convicted felons and unqualified people are who they are endorsing. Don’t let them tell you who to vote for.

I understand where you are coming from. I came from the generation that had 48 kids per classroom and had no problem. However, I became a teacher and saw the current realities. Back in the old days, if kids got into trouble, then their parents had enormous respect for teachers and education. They would blame the student, punish them and take matters into their own hands. Now a student can come face to face and curse out a teacher, and the parents will come running up to the school asking what the teacher did to aggravate their little darling.
