Money is the root of all evil. Trying to get and keep power is another factor. I don’t think it has anything to do with what a person sees in their house.
To all of the politically correct fools who think banning guns is going to make the United States such a better place: I have a few names for you: Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, the Hillside Strangler and Richard Ramirez. People don’t need guns to kill. If they’re crazy and they want to kill people, then they are going to kill. Wake up! Lay the blame on the people themselves. It is our permissive society that allows people to think they can do whatever they want to do. That is the problem.
Link card police, please look at the big picture. Yes, there may be some people who try to take advantage of the system, but the majority of these people really need the help. Link card fraud is nothing compared to the huge fraud taking place in Washington, D.C. Our government is bought by the wealthy. Lobbyists and special interest groups write our laws. Defense contractors are getting rich off our government yet our Congress wanted to slash Medicare rather than slashing defense. It is no longer about the common good. And you are complaining about a Link card?
Jose Banks and Kenneth Conley, the two inmates who were recently caught, should receive an award for being the dumbest of all. They were smart enough to use bedsheets to escape from the Metropolitan Correctional Center yet had absolutely no plan for after their escape. How were they able to collect all of those sheets without anyone knowing?

Documentation has shown that flu shots will allow infection with a different strain of virus, but similarities in the viruses allow the body to mount a faster defense on a different strain. Documentation shows that the vast majority of such infections are shorter and milder in a vaccinated person. Report all the facts. Don’t pick and choose to try and support a weak argument. Unless you have a verified adverse reaction, there is no logical reason to not protect yourself and others. Get vaccinated.

There is a short list of things I am sure of in my life. One of those things is if more people don’t start taking their blinders off and accept that there usually is more than one reasonable solution to any problem, then the problems will continue to multiply. It really is that simple. If we aren’t going to be a more open-minded society, then all we are doing is going around in circles like water in the toilet bowl. Wake up! We need to reacquaint ourselves with honesty and integrity.

The problem with socialism and heavy taxes is you soon run out of other people’s money to spend.
About gay people and civil unions: RP from Chicago Heights makes the tired comment that “God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve,” and then says gay people should be satisfied with the civil union laws. The only way that gay people should be satisfied with the civil union laws is if they are also satisfied with being second-class citizens without the same rights as others.

Why isn’t there a huge investigation and arrests being made with this Illinois pension problem? Millions have been misplaced from the pension fund for these workers. If these Illinois politicians cannot account for where the money went, then it should be considered stolen. I realize that half the city councils and state legislators would be thrown in jail if this were to happen, but somebody must be held responsible.
We have several sports facilities that I’ve never seen at full capacity. We have Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood and Toyota Park in Bridgeview and numerous others. In this economy, it is not a guarantee that if you build it they will come. I think people will find other things to do with their children that they can afford.
A Speak Out commenter made a big deal about taking down your Christmas decorations because they were up too long and an eyesore. Don’t you think it’s also time to take down those Proud Union Home signs because they have been up too long and an eyesore?
Chicago Ald. Carrie Austin said about former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., “You bought this hussy a $40,000 watch.” Nothing was said about Jackson Jr. and his wife, Sandi’s $2.5 million Washington, D.C., town house. I’m sure former Ald. Sandi Jackson made a majority of the decorating decisions. So Jackson Jr.’s friend got $40,000. It’s all wrong. Isn’t Austin concerned about the money misused from the campaign budget? If the feds didn’t step in, would this continue to go on and on?

The whereabouts of a homeless man have been recently commented on in Speak Out. Nobody knows for sure if this man is homeless. There are Public Action to Deliver Shelter sites. I’m surprised that nobody has approached him to get him into those PADS sites. It’s always good to help people in need, but I hate to see people taken advantage of.
All of the poorly informed voters out there who re-elected President Obama are now looking at their paychecks and wondering why more taxes have been taken out. They don’t even realize that they voted for it. Now that more money is being taken out of their paychecks, they are scratching their heads and wondering what happened. If you don’t know who you’re voting for, then maybe you shouldn’t even vote. I think we are now stuck with a president who likes to spend our money.
