I think the power outage at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome during the Super Bowl was probably the Republicans’ fault.
When going out to use your gasoline snow blower on the weekends (that would be Saturdays and Sundays), do you suppose you could wait until at least 9 a.m. instead of being out there waking all of the rest of us up just because you are up? Have you considered that just maybe I would like to sleep a little later than what I do Mondays through Fridays because I don’t have to go to work? It is really inconsiderate of you to go out that early.
To the suburban fireman who doesn’t like tip jars: I think those people who serve you coffee and make your large food orders work harder than you do and for a lot less money. Try working at what they do for eight hours at minimum wage instead of crying that you don’t make enough money. Yes, when the time comes you are ready to fight that fire, but in the suburbs it doesn’t happen every day or even every month. I think you get paid above and beyond your workload of 24 hours on and 48 hours off.
I see the politicians are buying votes again. The illegal immigrants have scared them into selling out the real citizens who the politicians were supposed to represent. We pay but they play. All the seniors I know are buying guns because they fear the present Obama administration. Thank you Crook County Democrats for the gift you sent me. My property taxes are more than my income per month, and this is just the first installment. What’s next?

Regarding another credit downgrade: Frustration with the inability of our lawmakers to make any progress on the pension deficit problem in Illinois has reached a boiling point in me. I thought surely this would be addressed during the last session of 2012. But alas, it was not. Who is ready to go to Springfield and protest, sit in and do whatever it takes until our elected officials do what is necessary to turn this disaster around? I cannot sit around and wait any longer.

Love of God and love of neighbor is a good way to begin the new year. Who is my neighbor? Who must I show love, care, compassion and forgiveness to? I try to do these acts of good faith on a daily basis.
Speak Out should have some of the comments printed voted as Whiner of the Month. So far for February I’d like to nominate the suggestion to make the high school sports section a pullout so the commenter can just throw it away as it does not fall into their category of interest. Just skip over it. I must admit that some of the comments do make it intriguing to read and see what some folks take the time to write or call in and express their opinions about, just like I’m doing now.

It’s not Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy’s fault for all the gang violence and shooting in Chicago. He is doing the best he can with our good policemen. There are just too many gangs for the police to handle. We have to do something about the gangs before we pick on the police superintendent. We have to get help from somewhere.
It seems to me there’s some resemblances between the suspect drawing in the Lane Bryant shootings and that of the many videotapes seen of the Hair Cuttery robber. I would think there would be an undercover person in every hair salon by now.
I wondered who would attempt to commit manslaughter of the national anthem at the Super Bowl this year. Along with that, I wondered what group of pseudo musical entertainers would perform at halftime. What ever became of a good ol’ marching band to delight the fans between halves?

About immigration back then: My grandfather came from Italy in 1922 when eminent domain forced him from his castle. He came to the United States and had to have a sponsor. He worked as a coal miner for long hours without a coffee break. There was no government handout like now, and nobody “gave” him a driver’s license.

OK, what’s the oil companies’ excuse for the spike in gasoline prices this time? We never seem to get a break.
Here we go with another teachers’ strike. Another union wants to move forward on the backs of taxpayers. Maybe it’s time for the taxpayers to go on strike.
Wow! I think allowing openly gay people in the Scouts is a big mistake. I think Scout leader jobs will be sought after vigorously by perverts. The phrase “leaving your child in good hands” will take on a new meaning. How a Scout earns his merit badge may be subject to question. My guess is each camping trip will bring many lawsuits.

The debt ceiling has been raised. Wonderful! But wait. Isn’t this like asking your credit card company to raise the limit on your credit card and telling them you have no intention of reducing your spending one dollar. In fact, you plan on increasing your purchases and will be calling again to raise your card limit again in a few months. It makes no sense, does it? But it doesn’t surprise me at all. For the last few years the things politicians have been doing in our federal and state government make absolutely no sense to me at all.
