It’s only a matter of time before former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson and former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. are behind bars. Hopefully former Cook County Board President Todd Stroger joins them.
I’m on the National Do Not Call Registry and have reported the same company in violation daily for weeks. The same company just switched phone numbers and hangs up when I speak to them. It looks like we have yet another dysfunctional government department that cannot perform the task they were created to do.

I think property taxes are the most unfair taxes of all. They are not based on income or consumption. Eventually, no one will be able to own a home in Illinois. It will do nothing but hurt the economy.
A lot of people seem to be using the term “Congress” to mean Republicans because they seem to be in opposition to President Obama, a Democrat. Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The legislative branch of government should be separate from the executive branch and judicial branch. It’s called checks and balances and separation of powers. The Congress is actually made up of at least 253 Democrats and 277 Republicans. That’s pretty close. The legislative branch should be opposing the executive branch. It makes laws and policies stronger when you have opposition and compromise.
I keep reading in the newspaper about taking guns away from people who possess them illegally. Now Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart has a new initiative that he wants to push. What about people who want to carry guns legally? I’m not reading anything about legal gun owners and the concealed-carry issue.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, the federal government pays welfare benefits of more than $2.3 trillion annually. To pay for that, it would take more than $7,400 from every U.S. man, woman and child. Welfare programs account for two-thirds of federal spending. The federal government has become a welfare machine. My hardworking fellow sheep, think about how many scammers, cheats and frauds are waiting by their mailboxes for their free money as you work so you can hopefully make ends meet. Our politicians say they are trying to help the middle class. They couldn’t care less.
The Second Amendment was written to allow we the people to not only protect ourselves from criminals but, more importantly, to protect us against a tyrannical, out-of-control government trying to take away our freedoms and liberties and from confiscating far too much of our own hard-earned money through “taxation without representation.” Hmm, it sounds a bit familiar; doesn’t it? No wonder our imperial President Obama wants to take away our guns.
In response to Mary from Clearing, so you are trying to tell me that all these kids playing high school sports are perfect and our future leaders? Then this state of Illinois and our country of America will be going downhill. Wow!
A man recently said his wife was a nurse and her co-workers sell Link cards belonging to others. I’m sorry but it’s fraud.
It should be no surprise that the Chicago Bears raised ticket prices. They have to make up for lost revenue from not making the playoffs again. Also, I think they have to pay former head coach Lovie Smith for next season since it was beneath him to take anything less than a head coaching job.

As kids, my brother and I delivered The Star in our Chicago Heights neighborhood. Years later, the paper would cover his impressive high school baseball career. Our family was so proud to see his accomplishments being recognized. My grandfather put together a scrapbook that is full of articles and pictures of his grandson and gave it to my father who has it to this day. The folks who do not enjoy these sports sections must be like our friends to the north. They just don’t get it.

I read the police blotter in the SouthtownStar. One of the biggest driver violations is the suspended licenses and the no auto insurance. Now Gov. Pat Quinn thinks he is a great leader by granting thousands of illegal immigrants in Illinois licenses so that they can drive legally in this state. I don’t think the police departments think this is a great idea. The insurance companies think it is wonderful because now they can sell more auto insurance policies. Our frontline officers are facing a massive increase of driver’s violations.

The note on the door read, “Business closed due to lack of support.” It’s too bad, Tinley Park residents. You missed out on one of the best beef sandwiches around. I don’t know if it was the location, lack of advertising or the owner not being overly friendly that closed Carm’s Beef on Oak Park Avenue and 178th Street. We will miss the delicious food they offered.

Dear God, please let the people of America wake up one morning with good news about our economy. No one else seems to care. In God I trust. Amen.

If you live in the suburbs, please don’t comment about Chicago. I think you have no idea what you’re talking about. Also , it doesn’t affect you unless you’re talking about meters. Most of the people who complain about Chicago are the ones that never go there.
