Congratulations to Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart for finding those 51 sexual assault kits that went untested. Maybe now these cases will be solved and those women can get some closure.
Instead of telling people to take a stand against guns, I wish Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel would tell people to take a stand against gangbangers, drug dealers and criminals. Those are the people who are causing the problem, not the guns themselves. Then again, those are the people who elect Democrats into office.
Enough already with ads about former U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson and the National Rifle Association! We get it. Let’s not forget all of the good Halvorson did for the south suburbs when she was in office, especially for the senior citizens.
It’s so uplifting to read about achieving and outstanding young people like swimmer Eric Stelmar and musician Michael Lambton. One gets sick of all the publicity given to teen murderers, robbers and lawbreakers. Keep up these features for the most-deserving, hardworking and focused young people.
Gov. Pat Quinn wants to raise the minimum wage in Illinois to $10 per hour. You could raise that to $20 per hour, but people who have all of this entitlement like Social Security benefits, disability benefits, Link cards and everything else that they can possibly get for free will never get off their backsides and get out of their houses to work.

The Boy Scouts is a Christian organization and was founded on Christian principles. Our secular pagan culture is trying to remove anything that resembles Christian principles by sanctioning and promoting the opposite of what Christianity and the Bible represents.

U.S. Sen. John McCain doesn’t think Chuck Hagel is qualified to be U.S. Secretary of Defense. This is the same guy who wanted to put former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin in the second seat to be president of the United States. I question McCain’s idea of what is qualified and what isn’t.
You can make all the phone calls you want. You can tell these families who lost their children that you are going to get down to business and this and that. It’s getting to become an old habit. People are tired of hearing about what you are going to do and what you haven’t done. My advice is to keep your mouth shut and leave the people who have lost their children alone. There is going to be more killing once these schools close and there is no protection. Why don’t you wake up and get more policemen?
I think it’s a little bit of overkill on former Gov. George Ryan. I’d like to see what is going to happen to former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson, who I think each did a lot worse with their campaign funds and corruption.
To the commenter from Hickory Hills who complained about people upset with overpaid neighbors like policemen, firemen and teachers, comparing their salaries with those of professional sports figures: These professional sports figures do not demand their pay from their neighbors via a forced tax system. I don’t like these sport figures’ salaries and don’t pay to watch them. I’m forced to pay teachers whom I do not use. This private militia calling themselves “elected representatives” have set up this unfair playhouse of theirs. One needs only to pay for what they have contracted to pay for. Otherwise, it is slavery.
The media will keep poking fun at New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie until he is labeled a fat clown. He made a mistake on “Late Show with David Letterman” by eating the doughnut. Letterman, who is so far left that he is off the page, loved that. Talk show hosts Letterman, Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel will keep it up until people think Christie will never be voted in as U.S. president. Don’t let them play you, Christie. Give a good man a break, media. Do they make fun of singers Aretha Franklin or Luciano Pavarotti? No, they do not.

In case some people haven’t noticed, nepotism is in all forms of government and boards. Where there is someone running a county office, they hire their children, cousins, nieces and nephews or sisters and brothers. It’s not just in Chicago. I worked in the suburbs for 40 years. I saw nepotism going on all the time.
If you cannot balance a budget what do you do? You start by trying to cut pensions that people were promised. You raise taxes on cigarettes and raise tolls 100 percent. You allow more casinos and legalize more gambling machines. You flood Illinois with more automatic lottery machines. The list goes on. When your budget is over by more than $100 billion, can any politician say they did not know what the results would be?

I recently read about a very nice newspaper deliveryperson who puts the newspaper next to the subscriber’s door. I wish that person could come on my block. Whoever is delivering my paper seems to be making a game of trying to determine how far from my front door they can throw the paper while still technically being on my lawn. This is especially hard on me when I am sick and don’t want to go out but I have to dress up just to get my paper.
Illinois is soon going to be a ghost town because everybody will be moving out. They are making it impossible to live here and support a family. The politicians don’t care because they can afford it.
