Congratulations to Ken and Amy Kazin and Evergreen Park High School on the performance of “Into The Woods.” The show was great. You two do an outstanding job.
The staff at the White Castle in Mokena on a recent Sunday mornings was so friendly. They joked around and worked well together. It was a wonderful experience to go over there and get something to eat. Kudos to the manager who hired those three.
Have every gun owner buy insurance. That way, insurance companies will demand background checks, tests and mental health evaluations just like they do with health care.
I don’t understand why people are suddenly worried about the coal ash emissions from the S.S. Badger car ferry. There were many coal-fired steamships on the Great Lakes during the last century. Were there reports of mass deaths because of coal ash deposits? No. I hardly think one remaining historic ship is going be a problem. You environmental extremists really need to get a life.
It really irritates me every time I hear or read about a politician praising first responders and calling them heroes because I know full well that after the sound bite is over they are going back to their office to figure out a way to cheat these people out of their rightly deserved pensions. Remember that the politicians, not the heroes, are the one who created this underfunded pension mess.
Why do they call young people who write or draw on buildings or trains “taggers”? That sounds like it’s some sort of special talent. Call them what they are. They are vandals, or maybe they’re just idiots or punks.
We think the death penalty should be back because there is so much going on now.
There is a reason that none of the trustees or the competition for the mayor’s office never get elected from the independent party. I think some people need to open up their eyes, listen to the minutes of the village meetings and learn something. Alsip got what they wished for. Mayor Patrick Kitching is exactly what they wished for. The voters spoke and Kitching won.
I think Texas Gov. Rick Perry is here in Illinois like a hustler, trying to steal our jobs and trying to lure our businesses to Texas. Why doesn’t he go to the business owners who outsourced to China?
Your mother sent me. You didn’t brush your teeth this morning.

We recently started recording the old series “Mission: Impossible” on Me-TV. The story lines and plots are fantastic. They were so far ahead of their time, or were they? It makes you think, “Who really is behind the government?”
The politicians are worried about raising the age of teenage smoking. Don’t they realize that these kids can get cigarettes anywhere they want? Don’t these politicians have anything better to do like pay attention to the gangs and abandoned houses and repairing streets? Every time you turn around these politicians are trying to do something different. Let’s worry about getting the city of Chicago under control with these gangs and putting more police on the streets.
Prayer is very strong. You have to have faith and belief. My granddaughter was born with a very large teratoma. It was a high-risk case. They operated on her at 3 days old. They had to cut her vocal cord to save her life. They said she would never talk, but through the power of prayer and praying to God and that little Italian saint Padre Pio, her vocal cords started working at 18 months. That was a powerful miracle. If you are a doubting Thomas, we have proof.
Where can people dispose of electronics like televisions, VCRs and other items? We’re not allowed to put them in the garbage but when you call someone they don’t know where to take them.
Why does it seem like men are so easy to brainwash? The younger brother of the Boston bomber said in so many words that he was influenced by his brother. Others are influenced and fascinated with radical behavior. I think researchers need to find out what is going on or map the chemical reaction in men’s brains.
The Link card police, as we’re called, don’t have a problem with someone who paid into the system for years and hit rough times. We have a problem with people who whip these cards out like they’re proud and think they’re entitled when they’ve never paid a dime into the system. They walk out and get in a nicer car than I drive.
It’s time that we quit fooling around with the teachers’ pensions. Those who have completed the necessary years and are on pensions should be left the way they are. The new teachers should be put on a 401(k). I think the Chicago Board of Education can save tons of money by discontinuing bus service and sending children to the local schools. That way the school will not be closed, the parents will not be fighting and we can get on with the business of teaching the children. This is an absolute disgrace. We are teaching children how to be disruptive.
I was going to cancel my cable, but thanks to April 18’s 10-hour marathon reporting about the weather I found some really good TV shows that I didn’t know existed. I think I will be watching cable more. Change is good.
