Regarding “start seeing motorcycle” signs, we’ve seen motorcycles using the center lines to pass. This guy on Archer Avenue to Lockport cut off a semitruck because he was in a hurry. Rules of the Road apply to all of us.
I want to commend the wonderful service I consistently receive from three waitresses at Roseangela’s in Evergreen Park. Here’s to you Jean, Patty and Julie.
Does anybody else see the political double-talk about illegal immigration? They want to build a detention center in Joliet yet they want to give those immigrants who are here illegally driver’s licenses. It doesn’t make sense to me.
It was reported that a woman swallowed a diamond that was put into her champagne glass at a charity event. She was scheduled for a colonoscopy process and the diamond was found. This is what I call a diamond in the rough.
Say no to amnesty for 11 million immigrants who are here illegally. We already suffered through President Reagan’s 3 million. I think most of these immigrants are not self-sufficient or educated. We’ve paid for their health care, baby deliveries, schooling and more. They often know well how not to pay taxes. I think they have taken advantage of the United States by coming here illegally. They are feeding off of the benevolence of the American people.
Sometimes I feel that some reporters are coming off as salesmen. They are trying to say that the unemployment rate is getting better, but they don’t tell you that the labor participation is way below what it was 10 or 15 years ago. All of these other people have dropped out of the system because they can’t find a job so they don’t get counted. I think the unemployment rate is actually a lot higher than they record, but they try to sell it to you like it’s getting better. Yeah, right!
I hope the U.S. government will stop funding Middle East countries like Egypt or Syria.
Some college professor teaching logic should give to his or her students, as a final exam, the task of finding all of the logical fallacies in any given Speak Out page. What are some of you thinking? It’s no wonder the rest of the Western world is passing us by.
I’m a Chicago Blackhawks fan and am bored by baseball. Let the Chicago Cubs leave the city. I think they couldn’t beat a T-ball team.
History repeats itself. I can see our U.S. government operating out of Canada with the British as arbitrators during our next civil war. In other words, England will control America again without firing a shot.
Dick from Orland Township
Judging the response by the police during the Boston marathon bombing suspect search, it looks like the citizens have a lot of catching up to do. The now-militarized police with their automatic weapons and armored personnel hunting one lone teen looked more like the Nazis swooping into Poland in 1939. Oh, and the people applauded those police, too, at first.
BJ from Frankfort
This is to the person who said pro-gay marriage people are forcing their beliefs down people’s throats. I was raised with God and the Bible and studied his truth.Still, I think telling people that they cannot marry whom they love is wrong. It is the equivalent of torture for any kind of people not to mention that according to Leviticus 19:19, God also believes that we shouldn’t “wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.” I think being gay is not a choice; it has everything to do with genetics. Try broadening your mind.
How much money has the state of Illinois saved and stolen in apparently not making decades of pension fund payments mandated by law, and not having to pay into Social Security for the people who are in those pension systems because they are not eligible for Social Security?I think these politicians are criminals.
To the person who wrote about Chicago Cubs fans not giving a darn about the game and being just at Wrigley Field for the bars: Have you been to a Cubs’ game at Wrigley Field? I’m a Cubs fan and I have. More fans are in their seats than at the bar. Chicago White Sox fans are vicious, always knocking the Cubs and their fans. Both are Chicago teams.
During rough times remember that it’s darkest before the dawn.
A Speak Out commenter stated that every time she has to use that Link card she wants to crawl under a rug. How can you find room under that rug when there are more than 47 million food stamp recipients already?
Cowboy hats off to Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s ride into Illinois to rustle up business, spur competition and lasso jobs from a business corral whose financial fence is falling down. Do we hear a stampede?
Jerry from Orland Park
The 24-hour-per-day, seven-days-per-week coverage of the Boston marathon terrorist attack, in my opinion, only emboldens these people. We have so much more going on in the United States with people being flooded out and the Texas fertilizer plant explosion, just to name others, yet they keep focusing on Boston 24 hours per day. At some point you have to get past it and move on. Let the authorities take care of it.
Have gasoline prices ever gone down by 65 cents in three days? No. How many times have gas prices gone up by 65 cents in three days? It seems like all the time. This is absolutely ridiculous.
