To all Christians: I want to know if you have ever prayed for the most notorious sinner of all time — Satan. I’m just asking.
Congratulations to the Oak Lawn High School Spartan Fishing Team on making it to the IHSA state finals as well as being selected as Plano and Frabill’s Team of the Year.Coach Chris Kuchyt has done an excellent job with this organization and deserves to be recognized for his hard work and dedication.

Even if GOP stood not for Grand Old Party but for Guns and Oil Party, like a recent Speak Out comment bashing Republicans stated, that is still a good thing. I think America would not even be here if it were not for guns and oil. Guns allowed us to win our revolution against tyranny. Oil is the lifeblood of our industrial economic engine. I guess DNC must stand for disinformed and needing common sense instead of Democratic National Committee.
I’ve seen many comments regarding Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cub fans. I go to both ballparks and root for both teams. The one thing I do notice is Cub fans seem to leave happy, win or lose, whereas Sox fans seem angry after a loss. This could be, in part, because of all the bars and people who are in and around Wrigley Field on any game day. I believe when people leave U.S. Cellular, most of them are heading home.
President Obama is always trying to provide everything for us like shelter, food and treatment for all of our aches and pains. It sounds great, doesn’t it? It’s great except that these are guaranteed provisions for slaves and prisoners.
Someone asked where they can recycle electronics like VCRs and other items locally. Park Forest Village Hall at 350 Victory Drive accepts some of these items during business hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The phone number is (708) 748-1112.
To those in favor of dumping toxic heavy metals into Lake Michigan, one of the largest sources of drinking water in the United States: Keep in mind that there are cleaner ways to ship vehicles across the lake and save on the vehicle emissions than using the S.S. Badger. It’s not about nostalgia. It’s about money and greed. The Environmental Protection Agency continues to cave to lobbying pressures. This ship shouldn’t be allowed to dump waste into a precious natural resource.
I think if the stabbings at Lone Star College in Texas had been done with a gun, you would have 14-plus dead, not just 14 or so injured.
They keep saying the economy is improving. Look at the car sales. I think buying a $20,000 auto with zero money down, a zero interest rate and 84 months to pay it off does not help the economy. It is reverting back to the original problem: more debt and heading towards another financial breakdown a little farther down the road. I think the majority of the cars being sold are foreign-made products, i.e., Hyundai, Fiat, Mazda, Volkswagen, Audi and all the rest. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out where we are headed for again.
How can anyone compare American police departments to the Nazi invasion of Poland? Who do you think liberated Poland? The tooth fairy? Police and fire departments nationwide are manned by many veterans. They are our first lines of defense in our country and confronted with the reality of radical Islamic terrorists within, not to mention gangbangers, drug abusers, alcoholics, rapists, child predators and retail crime.

Why the degradation and ridicule for NFL player Tim Tebow claiming he’s a Christian vs. the adulation of the so-called hero NBA basketball player Jason Collins who came out of the closet and declared his homosexuality?

Texas Gov. Rick Perry came to Illinois to persuade jobs to move to Texas. He will have to wait in line because Indiana has Illinois covered. Gov. Pat Quinn seems afraid to build a casino because it would take business from Indiana. Quinn already raised the taxes. Indiana is taking everything that Illinois has. Perry is wasting his time trying to steal jobs for Texas.
This is a first. Former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley gave his campaign money away to charity. He could have kept the money and only paid taxes on it. This somehow doesn’t seem right. Keeping the money is like putting icing on a cake. I guess no one is complaining. Keep milking us ordinary people any way that seems possible.
To some of the prom parents of Andrew High School: Thanks for trying to offer my child alcohol for prom weekend. Thanks for trying to undo everything my husband and I instilled in our child. Who are you to decide to take that upon yourself to offer alcohol to a child other than your own? People like you are not welcomed in our community and we don’t appreciate you making that decision for us.
What is up with gasoline prices? I recently passed a station that was $3.97 per gallon. An hour later, it was $4.15 per gallon. Why?
I’m going out on a limb to say that Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaeva will not get the death penalty. Maybe he’ll get life imprisonment if convicted, but not the death penalty.
I’d like to say, “Thank you,” to Xavier and the whole crew at the Markham Public Library for accommodating the election judges of Precinct 39 on Election Day.
