To the nonbeliever in Willow Springs: If God intervened in everything then I think we would be in paradise. We are not. Remember that Satan also exists.
Most communities have a war memorial in support of our veterans if not in your town then in one close by. I hope that all have stopped to pay your respects and say a prayer, as I do every year. That is the least we can do to show respect for our departed and wounded warriors.

Regarding Chicago Blackhawk tickets: I thought scalping was illegal. Why do ticket brokers seem to get away with it?
When the Illinois House returns to Springfield in fall, we are asking them to add “marriage triquality” to “marriage equality” in their hopes of passing gay marriage. If you love a person, you should be able to marry him or her. I am in love with two women who also love each other so I want to marry both of them as they will also marry each other: “marriage triquality.” I am sure to have the backing of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community and Equality Illinois in fighting for equal rights.

I can’t wait till more stores come to Lincoln Mall in Matteson. Our mall is in a prime location and right off of Interstate 57, south of Chicago, on Lincoln Highway and Cicero Avenue. Come on, stores. I know you want to open up here. It’s worth a try.

Can anyone out there explain something to me? Why is it that when there is an oil refinery problem anywhere in the United States, prices go up countrywide but when there is supposed to be a refinery problem here in the Chicago area, prices skyrocket only for us here? Do we have a “Kick Me” sign hung on our backside? Or maybe “Sucker” is written on our forehead. I just saw $4.49 a gallon for regular gasoline. This just plain stinks.
To people who own dangerous dogs: Please, people, try to keep an eye on your dog so they don’t get out of the yard without you knowing. Otherwise, something bad will, and can, happen.
Black pastors are getting together to stop gay marriage. They should be getting together to help stop crime in Chicago. The gangs are more of a threat than the gay people are. Catholics are also sounding off against the gay-marriage bill. They need to take care of their priests who exhibit weird behavior.
President Obama said the first time he heard about the Internal Revenue Service targeting conservative groups was through the media. What this says to me is that in order to further protect President Obama from criticism and investigations his own administration has resorted to flat out not telling him information so he has plausible deniability. He can’t be called a liar if he never knew something was happening. This also protects him from being called incompetent because he was never told in the first place.
I recently brought my car in to Spitzer’s Service Station on 95th Street in Oak Lawn. I didn’t have an appointment but they were able to squeeze me in anyway. They even drove me home, called me when my car was ready and picked me up. You can’t find service like that anywhere nowadays. Thanks to Ken, Ron and Kevin. You guys provide great service.

Laws in favor of one religion are unconstitutional. Think about this before you decide to vote on a ban against someone because a certain concept is “against your religion.” You’re infringing on the rights of others and disrespecting hundreds of other religions that exist besides yours and that may believe differently. America is a melting pot. Even children can learn how to coexist.
To the person from Chicago who commented in Speak Out that guns have only one purpose and that is to kill: I think you’re dead wrong. Guns now, just like swords of earlier times, have the purpose to level the playing field. Can anyone imagine a group of gangbangers wanting to rob and threaten people on a city bus upon getting on the bus and seeing most people carrying a sidearm?
Thank you, Dr. David Butler, for providing patients like me that do not drive a free ride service to your Butler Orthopaedics office in Orland Park. Since receiving the shot you gave me, my knee is feeling much better. Your ride service is great, and so are you and your staff.
Sue from Orland Park
A growing body of scientific evidence points to pesticides as the reason why current kids are sicker than a generation ago, with disorders ranging from cancer to learning disabilities and asthma. I think there is no such thing as a safe pesticide.
Thank you, Phil Kadner, and the SouthtownStar for the great column on Garden Center Services. Many people do not know or realize what this organization does for the many challenged individuals and their families. I hope that your article sparks support for this wonderful organization from the neighborhoods around each facility and also increase donations to help them continue their work.

To Alsip Joe who loves the American flag and what it stands for: On a recent cruise to the South Seas and various islands, of all the enchanted islands we visited, the most beautiful sight we saw was the American flag waving when we approached Hawaii.
