Now that we’re finally getting nicer weather, try and get out there and have a picnic. It’s a great way to enjoy the weather and get some needed relaxation.

Has anyone else noticed how rude the drivers are out there on the road now? It also seems the bigger the vehicle they are driving, the ruder they are. I was never taught to drive up within a foot of another vehicle in front of me and try to push them down the road. Never! Where do these people get this from, their own anal personality?

To be sure your issues about a touchy subject are really recorded, call and write to your senators, representatives, Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan and Gov. Pat Quinn. Their phone numbers and addresses are printed in the government sections of phone books or online.

I would recommend that everyone read the book “Animal Farm.” There is also a movie version but the book is better. It is amazingly much like what is happening now in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk suggests we should put 18,000 gangbangers in jail. U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush says that we should get them jobs. What gangbanger would work for chump change when he could make more money with criminal activities?

Cisco from Posen

To the person who said that 99 out of 100 people that have a Link card deserve one: The only thing I can say about that comment is: You are way wrong.

Worth

I just read that Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine is going to admit undocumented people to its physician training program. Just like that, positions that should go to the hardworking students of the legal taxpaying public go to those who flaunted our laws. This is just another example of liberal political correctness run amok.

Bob from Oak Forest called union members that vote for Democrats dumb. I think the Republican Party has been out to destroy unions since Ronald Reagan and the demise of unions will lead to the demise of the middle class in the United States. Like it or not, unions improve working conditions, pay and benefits. If you think companies are going to do the right thing on their own, I have to call you dumb.

Prosecutors want four years for former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and 18 month for his wife, former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson. They spend millions investigating these two who will probably plea bargain their sentences down to about one year for Jesse and probation for Sandi. This has all been a big waste of money. If I had stolen $750,000 worth of products from my business then I’d be in jail for 15 years. This is a terrible double standard.

Matt from Park Forest

For the commenter who can’t trust Bill Clinton’s stance on gay marriage in Illinois: I don’t understand how you dont trust him because he’s a “pervert,” as you called him. Isn’t he the one that signed the Defense of Marriage Act into law? We can’t trust him either, but at least he’s showing that he’s learning from his mistakes. Now we have to wait for the rest of the Neanderthals to catch up to the times.

Joliet

While I appreciate the forewarning of any storm, it seems some meteorologists fabricate storms, which causes undue alarm. My thoughts are that soon people will think of weather warnings like the little boy who cried, “Wolf.”

Linda

Of course guns are for killing. If the gangbangers get on a bus and see folks carrying guns, is each side just going to stare at each other? Won’t the “good guys” shoot when the gangbangers fire at them? If not, why carry a gun? Leveling the playing field means both the good guys and bad guys are able to shoot each other. By the way, I thought the law that passed was for concealed carry. That means no one knows you have a gun until you remove it from its concealed place on your person.

Chicago

It’s funny how we are supposed to be in a so-called recession and people are claiming to be poor yet people are buying expensive electronics, going out to eat a lot and going to sports games. I guess we are not as deep in the hole like people make it out to be.

Regarding God and Satan: If we don’t live in paradise because Satan also exists, then I have a question: Who created Satan?

Minimum wage jobs were never intended as the main income source for a family. They are to learn the work ethic and to move onto higher-paying jobs. If you’ve had 12 years of free public schooling and feel your calling is a minimum wage job, the problem is yours. Millions of others struggle with furthering their education for better-paying jobs. That’s how it is done and should be done, not another handout.

Ken from Crete

I watched the Jodi Arias trial this winter and spring. It was a trial about a woman that sliced and diced her lover, admitted it and then claimed self-defense. After five months of ridiculous testimony, the jury found her guilty of first-degree murder. Then the same jury found the premeditated crime too cruel and subject to the death penalty. But after three days the jury could not find a unanimous decision on sentencing. Are these the kind of brain-dead people that make up our juries now?
