Wouldn’t anyone else like to see Shaquille O’Neal get into or out of that Buick LaCrosse? Take a look at him scrunched in the driver’s seat. It’s funny.
I’d like to thank Tinley Park and all of the kind people who supported the collection for neurofibromatosis on May 4 and 5. Your generosity is much appreciated.
So even with school closings, the Chicago Public Schools system is crying about budget problems. Some want to increase property taxes by the maximum legal amount. Chicagoans better get used to the phrase “maximum legal increase.” I think they are trying to solve all of their budget problems on the backs of people who had nothing to do with the problem. Get someone in there who can run the Chicago Board of Education correctly and under budget.
Requirements for marriage licenses don’t question your moral alignment, nor do they question your religious or childbearing status. Christians are the ones asking for special rights. If you want a country run by a single religion, then America isn’t the country for you. This is a melting pot. Either you melt or get out of the pot. You could move elsewhere, instead, and get a taste of your own medicine.
Regarding terrorists being cowardly, how about a drone firing a missile at someone “thought” to be a terrorist and killing many innocent people and those being labeled as “collateral damage”?

Former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife, former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson, should get full terms in jail. Put them both in jail for 14 years. Take a look at what they did to former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, and Blagojevich didn’t steal any money. Are you telling me that the Rev. Jesse Jackson and his wife or any other family member can’t watch the Jacksons’ children?
Don from Calumet City
If you want to see people and the media complain about the high cost of gasoline again, you will have to wait until there is someone from another political party in office.
Basil from Orland Park
We were so saddened by the death of cyclist Brian McDivitt who was killed by an Oak Forest woman making a turn on Ridgeland Avenue. Did she stop or was it one of those rolling stops? Drivers, wake up and watch out for cyclists!
I’ve got a simple solution for Rick from Evergreen Park who said he can’t find a TV show that meets his needs while eating dinner. Turn off the TV and talk with your family over the dinner table. If his family is unable to communicate, try tuning into PBS, the Food Network or the Cooking Channel, one of the sports channels or one of the travel channels.
I think it’s absurd when we have to show photo identification when using checks, credit cards or debit cards, but Link card users do not have to show ID.
To the person who commented that God created evil because Lucifer is evil: God did create a perfect Lucifer in all ways, but it was Lucifer that became evil all on his own.
Michele from Hickory Hills
It is very fashionable in certain circles to ban plastic bags. From what I’ve heard, paper bags cause as much pollution, if not more, since it takes a lot of water to make paper. Also, people with big families can’t fit all their groceries in one bag. I think there are more important issues in the world than plastic or paper.
I think former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden is a traitor to America. If he were my son I would be angry and ashamed of him leaking classified information from the NSA. He must not come from a close-knit family since he knows he will never be allowed into America again as a free man. If he is ever brought back here, I hope he is prosecuted as a traitor.
Boohoo! The increased Illinois tax on cigarettes has reduced the state’s projected income by about 39 percent in 2013. The government claimed that this added tax would encourage smokers to give up the habit, so your current crocodile tears deserve zero sympathy. Congratulations on killing the golden goose. I assume that Cook County is also disappointed with their cigarette tax imposed.
About children not getting breakfast now that school is closed: What did your children eat on Saturday and Sunday? Cereal and milk are all kids need for breakfast. Did you ever see what they threw away that the kids did not eat? I think you should have never had children. Also, there was another comment about special learning not being available for the summer. Can’t you work with your children and show them you love them, or are you looking for a baby sitter? Do what you do on Saturday and Sunday, or does grandma do it?
I just heard the news. A committee is now being formed to deal with pension reform in Illinois. The best way to stall is to form another committee. I think it’s clear the Illinois Legislature is not going to take money out of their pockets to get this done. Watch, wait, wait again and see.
Sometimes we take the most important people for granted because they always offer comfort and support. We should show them more how much we care.
I, for one, am grateful for the state of the state of Illinois. At least there is one thing that cannot be blamed on the Republicans.
