So all you haters on Jenny McCarthy, she is laughing all the way to the TV show “The View,” where she’ll be co-host.

I’m a mom who wanted to say it is great to have a true professional working in the children’s department of the Blue Island Public Library. The programs offered by Ms. Egan have been superb. It is great to have someone who is knowledgeable, talented, caring and passionate working with the children. Great work, Ms. Egan!
To the concrete business owner who can’t get decent help: I wish my daughter could help you. She graduated two years ago as a radiologist technologist and hasn’t been able to get a job because she doesn’t “know” anybody who can help get her foot into that almighty employment door, or she’s not related to anyone in a hospital imaging department. She volunteers at two hospitals. You’d think that would help her get some position to start out. Are there any rad techs that are having a difficult time finding a job? I’d like to hear your comments or suggestions.
I know I have to work every day to pay my bills. I receive no aid. Who are all the people who protest? Are they permanent welfare recipients?
About neighborhood decline: In my once lovely, older neighborhood, I am tired of looking at houses where cutting the grass has become too much like work and pulling weeds or trimming anything is never going to happen. Garbage cans and clutter are all around and not put away, general maintenance is almost nonexistent and driveways need mowing because the weeds are so tall. All of this brings my home value down even further while my property taxes are higher than nearby communities with much newer and bigger homes. It saddens me to say that it’s time to get out.
What’s with all these comments from people about the Illinois Lottery? They whine that they’ve spent too much and are filing bankruptcy again. They whine about too many games to play with their birthday or anniversary combos because it’s getting too expensive. Why don’t these people just do what the majority of us do? Don’t play. It’s as simple as that. I think lotteries are for suckers. All these people are doing is throwing their money away.
Does anyone drive the posted speed limits anymore?
Thank you, Mr. David McGrath, for a very informative column in regards to the Comfort Inn. I will not stay at any of the Comfort Inns this summer because I think they lack to inform the public on their policies. They should have given you the free night stay to keep a customer happy. Your column should be sent to the chief executive officer of Comfort Inn so he can see what is going on and how he will be losing more business due to the lack of customer service and helping a very unhappy customer.
Regarding celebrity chef Paula Deen and the controversy over her using the N-word: We sure took out that hardworking, rich, old white woman.
Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy needs to put a gun on his hip and get out into the war zone area in Chicago instead of going on television and saying that things are getting better and his plans are working. How many shooting deaths occurred during the July 4 weekend?
How in the heck can the United States afford to give another country $7 billion when we ourselves are in need to be receiving help to take care of our own financial troubles? We the small people see this problem. It’s the ones in the White House who have the blinders on.

To our religious friends regarding disproving a negative: One can never prove or disprove a negative; you cannot prove or disprove that something does not exist. You can never prove or disprove there are not little green men on the moon who run and hide every time we look at the moon. Similarly, you can never prove or disprove anything or any event is not God. As for what people will do when their death is imminent, that is something that only they will find out when the time comes.
About migration from Mexico: Every time we hear about someone or a group of individuals attempting to cross the Mexico border to enter America, it astounds me that the Mexican government never appears to take any form of action to take care of their own to bring an end to the continuing exodus of their downtrodden souls. It should not be our burden. We have enough problems within that need our own internal support. Mexico needs to start being responsible for its own people.

To Steve from Midlothian: What did past Mayor Terry Stephens do for Midlothian in his four-year term? Have you looked around Midlothian lately? You stated he let you know the progress of Midlothian. What progress? I think you need to give Mayor Sharon Rybak a chance. Give her four years and then a rebuttal.
I don’t think it’s fair that so many contests you see advertised on television or hear on the radio require a person to have a computer. What about people that don’t have that luxury or can’t afford it? Why are they excluded? What ever happened to calling or writing in?
