Some have criticized the Madigan family, but I’m glad to hear Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan decided to run for re-election instead of for governor. She’s done a good job and can continue to do a good job.
I’ve been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Please pray for me. I’m 79 years old. I believe in prayer and miracles.

Now that the rush to judgment to hang George Zimmerman is over and he has been found not guilty, maybe we can move on. You can’t be upset just because things didn’t go your way. Trayvon Martin was no angel and Zimmerman is not a guy you’ll see on TV game show “Jeopardy!” Two wrongs don’t make a right. I think they both made terrible mistakes. Unfortunately, Martin died because he exercised bad judgment. Let’s just move on, America.
Two of our full-time employees retired. We now have four part-time positions. Thank you, Obamacare.

The national media has degraded itself from the professional standards of integrity, truth and community support. Now it’s nothing more than fearmongering from the hope to sell more newspapers and to push a certain agenda of their own.

Isn’t it about time people accept the decisions of our courts without constantly demonstrating in our streets in peaceful communities?
We have a terrible problem with unnecessary and harmfully deadly gang wars in Chicago. My heart goes out to the people living in those areas where they fear for their lives and the lives of their loved ones daily. How can we make these neighborhoods safer? Maybe a list of suggestions could be presented to Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy.

A Speak Out commenter claiming to have a concrete business states that he cannot find help because people are out of shape or not willing to work hard. I think this commenter is full of it. There are probably hundreds of people in his own community willing to work hard for a fair wage. This guy just found a unique way to publicly insult people using Speak Out. He claims he has a post on craigslist. Anybody who knows how to use the Internet knows there are thousands of nitwits with phony responses and phony posts there.
I’m sick and tired of hearing about how bike riders are getting hit by cars. From what I’m seeing, it’s mostly your fault. You have to obey the rules of the road. Common sense would tell you that you are going to lose a battle against a car if you are riding a bike.
Former funny man and Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was a clown going into jail and now is a clown in jail by trying to claim how innocent he is. People aren’t stupid like he thinks they are. I feel sorry for his children, but I do not feel sorry for him or his wife, Patti. They both knew what he was doing. Patti Blagojevich should be in jail right next to him.
Jerry from Chicago Heights
When you go home at night and see your family, think about how they would feel if they lost you.
Pop star Justin Bieber is constantly in the spotlight, but not in a good way. Maybe he’s suffering from growing pains. Whatever is his problem I think he needs to take a time-out.
Gov. Pat Quinn is bringing fracking to Illinois and with it we will have air pollution, water pollution, earthquakes and serious health issues. When the tap water catches fire near a flame because of the fracking gases or we get cancer, lung disease, rashes or facial paralysis, then we can thank Gov. Quinn. Instead of planet-destroying and health-altering jobs, we need sensible, safe and productive work.

If you are looking to find a fine-dining restaurant that has delicious prime rib and fish, then look no further than Lawry’s The Prime Rib on Ontario Street in Chicago. It was the best prime rib we’ve ever eaten complemented by a splendid salad, mashed potatoes in gravy and Yorkshire pudding. You can try the rest or you can try the best. On a scale of one to 10, we gave Lawry’s The Prime Rib a 12.

What a treat it was to have a long phone chat with a good friend!
I am a 72-year-old grandmother who is raising three of my grandchildren whose parents are incarcerated. The father has a life sentence and the mother has a 20-year sentence. I read about how the government had no objection to staggering the sentencing of former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson to allow a parent to remain at home with their two children. If the Jacksons’ situation is OK then why couldn’t this happen with the father and mother of the children who I am trying to raise?
We have had people for years and years waiting in line, taking tests and being sworn in to become American citizens. We have 11 million immigrants who are in the United States illegally running around, and our politicians choose to say, “Let’s let them in,” all for a vote. The people who have gone through the process legally should sue the U.S. government for violating their rights.
Don’t ever assume that a condo board association management company will help you in times of need. I think they don’t care about your suffering. It just takes one or two members to make your life absolutely miserable.
