Congratulations to Ellie Fontanetta and her family in Lockport on her new playroom. Bravo to the Ace Hardware Foundation for bringing some sunshine into this 9-year-old’s life.
Why don’t all these people marching and carrying signs all over Chicago march when their own people shot their children, wives and mothers? Why march for just one person, Trayvon Martin, from Florida? I think that’s discrimination.
There is no money for White House tours, the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels or the U.S. Air Force’s Thunderbirds, but there is plenty of money for President Obama to use Air Force One as a personal taxi to raise campaign funds all over the United States at $179,000 per hour. Everything is for him and nothing is for the people. What is wrong with this picture?

I do not think former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s sentence should be reduced because of what is going on with former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.’s pending sentence. I think Jackson’s sentence should be way more based on the 14 years Blagojevich got.
Prior to French tennis star Marion Bartoli winning the women’s title at the Wimbledon final, BBC sportscaster John Inverdale stated that she would never be a looker. He is a crude and rude nitwit and should be terminated immediately. Talk about disgraceful behavior! It’s too bad Bartoli can’t whack this imbecile with her tennis racket.
I am happy with the not-guilty verdict of George Zimmerman. After hearing all of the evidence, the jury knows that he had no choice but to kill or be killed. Many in the news chose not to report the back of Mr. Zimmerman’s head covered in blood. His head was being banged against the cement. Zimmerman had no choice but to defend his life.

I think former Crestwood trustee and newly elected Mayor Lou Presta and other officials and trustees who knew well water was being used should have had the courage to speak up and expose this on behalf of their fellow neighbors and residents. Mayor Presta, no amount of money will ever be able to put this behind us for the families of those we know lost loved ones due to the tainted water scandal.
At a protest in Texas while pro-life activists sang “Amazing Grace,” proabortion activists chanted, “Hail, Satan!” I cannot believe the proabortion activists are playing to look as though they are involved with Satanism. That is a terrible state of mind to be hailing Satan. The last time I heard the word “hail” it was, “Hail, Hitler.” I think someone needs to speak out about this.
We read again about another assault at a bus stop in Chicago. This time a 20-year-old woman was dragged into an alley and sexually assaulted. When are legislators going to learn that we do need concealed carry on public transportation?
I heard that they are going to try to get former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s sentence reduced. I think they should. He has two small children and a wife at home. What is good for one is good for the other. Blagojevich never took any money so I think his sentence should be reduced.
After the Citizens United ruling and the decimation of the Voting Rights Act, I think there are justices on the Supreme Court who are an embarrassment to the United States.
What is wrong with banning all guns except for the military and police? It has worked in other countries. Why can’t it work here? I heard that in England, the police weren’t even armed for a long time. That sure worked OK. It’s different when you have to be up close and personal to kill someone rather than just point an object and pull your finger back.
You could almost hear the snickering and laughing going on in some of the black community when U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush referred to U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk’s idea to stop gangbangers as “elitist, white boy.” But you certainly don’t hear the outcry.
John from Oak Lawn
Do random acts of kindness whenever you can. Don’t underestimate the power of doing something nice, especially when it’s least expected. One act can turn a dark day into a bright one.
You may not like President Obama, but think about what would be happening to all the people affected by weather disasters across America if former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan had won.I think they would have eliminated Federal Emergency Management Agency and any government assistance to suffering Americans.
The U.S. legal system is an adversarial one. Its purpose is not to discover truth and hand out justice but rather to determine a winner and a loser.
Wes from Orland Park
I think Republicans believe that if you borrow money then you have to pay it back, but Democrats think this is racist nonsense.
Wow! It has been so hot recently that it’s been unbelievable. I hope all your family, friends and especially your pets found ways to stay cool. When winter rolls around, and you know it will come sooner than any of us want it to, just remember these scorching days when we were wishing for the coolness.
