Some people can’t wait for Ted Nugent at RidgeFest in Chicago Ridge. The Motor City Madman shreds, but I can’t wait for fun with my neighbors at the best summer festival around.
Gov. Pat Quinn should pass a stand-your-ground law here in Illinois.

I was pulling out of the credit union when a man pulled in and kicked his door open. That’s how we get dings.
Can we all agree to stop using the term “public servant” for public employees? First of all, they are not servants. Secondly, like all of us, they are motivated by self-interest. Unfortunately, especially the politicians have created a new nobility class with rampant nepotism, patronage hiring and outrageous benefits and pensions unheard of in the private sector. This is all at the expense of the struggling taxpayer.
Is what celebrity chef Paula Deen said, using the N-word, questionable? Yes, but I think it’s time to forgive and forget and not keep that lingering. We forgot and forgave the Rev. Jesse Jackson when he made derogatory remarks about Jewish people.
How is someone who gets free food, education, college, mentoring, medical, housing and more considered underprivileged? I consider the kids and families who have to do everything on their own with absolutely no help the true underprivileged.
Singer Beyonce called for a moment of silence for Trayvon Martin during a concert. How about adding a moment of silence for each girl and boy shot to death in Chicago since Martin’s death?

I’d like to know who these doctors are in Speak Out and Forum who are sure former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. is faking mental illness. Have they considered he truly is bipolar? His absence from Congress before he resigned played a part in people thinking he’s faking. However, all indications are he is being treated by doctors for bipolarism. But the comments show why someone would hide they are bipolar or have mental illness. Even if people do believe you, they unfairly scrutinize and judge. So enough of these mean-spirited comments from people who are not treating Mr. Jackson.
Well, I’ve seen it all. I went to Mass recently and I viewed a woman talking on a cellular phone as she proceeded up the aisle to receive Communion. She wasn’t near me, but it took all I had to restrain myself in the midst of one of the most blatant demonstrations of disrespect I have ever witnessed. Not only that, but this woman continued to talk when she returned to her pew. When Mass ended she was gone. Good for her!

In response to the statement that gasoline prices are going up due to the unrest in Egypt, then why does it seem like Illinois is the only state in the union affected by this?
My mom is on disability. She cannot get out of a car with ease as it’s too low to the ground. She drives a pickup.
In regard to the race-baiting sign in front of First Baptist Church in University Park, apparently the Rev. Reginald Williams Jr. does not read his Bible much. Exodus 20: 1 through 20, commonly called the Ten Commandments, states, “Thou shalt not kill,” which is one of the commandments. I think race is irrelevant.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel should appoint a Republican to fill Ald. Dick Mell’s seat on the city council so Rahm would have someone to blame all the problems of the city on. I think that is who he blamed everything on when he was in Washington, D.C.
Do you trust the people running our government? If you do, I have a bridge for sale in New York. For those of us old enough to remember Nazi Germany, it looks like Nazi military leader Hermann Goring is running the U.S. Department of Justice and Nazi military commander Heinrich Himmler is running the National Security Agency and the Internal Revenue Service. Those two did a great job spying on the Germans. Now those in power in America do a great job spying on our telephones and computers. Even reporters are spied on. What happened to freedom in this country?

I agree we should secure our borders but not with a mindless kill-them-all attitude.

How is it justice for Trayvon Martin to riot, burn cars and break into stores?
I watch “Catfish” on MTV. People can meet online and develop a relationship. I’ve made friend online who turned out to be who he or she said she was. They’re not all fakers out there.
It was stated that Illinois voters should give the Republicans a chance while pointing out all of the negative problems with the Democrats. We have been giving both parties a chance and still end up with corrupted or incompetent leadership. So maybe what we need is an independent governor who is not obligated to either party.

Don’t attack George Zimmerman. It was the law that was in place that allowed him to carry the gun and protect himself. Attack the law that is in place. I think if it was a black shooter and victim or a white shooter and victim, then this case wouldn’t have even made the national news.
