We went to see Paul McCartney in concert in Milwaukee on July 16 and wonder why First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park has never had his concert there.
There are consequences to robbing, raping and beating people senseless for no reason. Concealed carry is here. Every American citizen has the right and obligation to protect themselves from receiving death or great bodily harm at the hands of thugs.

I have been going to church every Sunday for over 20 years. Not once has the preacher stood in the house of God and blamed current problems on a specific race of people.

I’m so glad a Meijer is coming in Mokena. I love that store especially their low prices on some things and their sliced watermelon. I can’t wait till they open.
I heard the unrest in Egypt excuse on the radio about rising gasoline prices. Again, I think it’s a dumb excuse to gouge us.
To U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush and U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin: I don’t know how you both keep getting elected, but why don’t you both step down?
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants to charge suburbs more for Lake Michigan water. I think all the suburban mayors need to tell Emanuel that until Chicago residents stop wasting water by watering their lawns all day, the suburbs are not paying. Here’s an example. I live in the suburbs and went to spend the day with my parents. Some of their neighbors had their sprinklers on when I got there at 9 a.m. and when I left at 8 p.m., those sprinklers were still on. That is such a waste of water. Why should we in the suburbs pay?
I enjoy Dr. Phil most of the time and have a different opinion than his at times, but July 22’s TV show was the worst ever. Regarding Trayvon Martin, as an American even if you aren’t in agreement with decisions made by a jury, there shouldn’t be a show regarding ifs and buts. Not all cases are what the people want, but that is the law. That is the American way. Dr. Phil should reconsider some of his shows.

There was another great article by distinguished journalist Phil Kadner regarding mental health issues, etc., at Cook County Jail. Credit should be given to the correctional officers. Jail conditions sound unbearable. A jail isn’t equipped to deal with medical mental issues. It sounds like the jail is a dumping ground. The hidden heroes are the correctional officers. What is being done to ensure their well-being and keep morale up? I can’t imagine a more difficult job, yet I never read of these officers being treated with dignity and respect. Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart does not do his job alone.

What is with people now? How ignorant can one be talking on a cellular phone in the library like they are at a party while using the computer and with others sitting around them? I believe cell phone users are far worse than smokers once were. When in the library put the cell phone on silent or lose it.
I think the judge should give former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson each 10 years. Former Gov. George Ryan didn’t take any money but was still accused and convicted of the driver’s license scandal. Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich was accused and convicted for the senator seat shakedown but never touched any money. The Jacksons took money. They should each get 10 years or this judicial system is not worth a dime.

Regarding the Texas abortion protest: To shed the light of truth on this, I heard that only one proabortion person sarcastically said, “Hail, Satan,” to a pro-life guy. He filmed it and spread it on the Internet that all the proabortionists were “chanting” it. The truth, please!
Going through automobile ads, I noticed that one car dealer still had new 2012 cars for sale, and 2013 models are near being last year’s model now. With a little more checking for cheaper prices, I saw they even had a new 2011 model car listed. That car could have been built in 2010. So much for the economy improving! These cars were zero percent interest and 60 months to pay off. I’ll keep my 2004 auto running until the wheels fall off. Why would I buy a 2010 car? Their prices were not that low to be a bargain.
It’s was funny to read an article in July 21’s newspaper about the towns complaining about not making the huge profits off the red-light cameras. Then they say that they are only interested in safety. The “s” in safety is really a dollar sign, as in “$afety.”

When you’re having a bad day, wish someone else well.
Jenny McCarthy belongs on “The View” as a co-host. I’ve never seen or heard more tripe in my life than when forced to watch the TV show in a waiting room. They should all be left on a remote island together.
So it’s not all right for the Rev. Michael Pfleger to be an activist by demonstrating against violence, guns, gangs and advocating for the poor, but it’s OK for the Catholic Church to be activists by trying to push its religious beliefs about birth control and abortion on people who are not Catholic and have differing opinions on those subjects?
