CNN’s Pedro Pinto asked Chicago Bull Derrick Rose who was the best player in the NBA. He responded, “Derrick Rose.” That’s the funniest response ever.

I have nothing but praise for our Oak Forest post office. The clerks are polite and efficient. Our mail carrier is the best. Few patrons smile or greet the clerks. Serving the public isn’t easy. I greet these hardworking people with a smile and kind word. Try it. You’ll receive the same. The postal system has been financially attacked by email including correspondence and greeting cards, electronic payments resulting in lost jobs, and Internet shopping. The federal government would like to shut the post office down so we become glued to our computers and become a nation of lost sheep.

Yes, some foreign countries have extremely high taxes to pay for all of their social programs. Many of these countries also do not have the living standards we do in America. Watch the reality TV show “House Hunters” sometime and watch the culture shock. Tiny houses, ridiculously tiny apartments, no central heating or air, horrid bathrooms, no yard and no car either. I’m talking about places like France and England, too. Maybe you need to learn. I’d rather pay for my family, thank you, than yours.

Regarding Air Pollution Action Days: I think the air outside is unhealthy for people to breathe. When will we wake up and realize what we are doing to our environment? Will we vote people into office who will make the rich even richer and the middle class poor and eliminate those aspects of government that keep business in check?

Imagine all the embellished stories told by celebrities that get swallowed up by adoring fans and media types. There aren’t any fact-checkers in the room so these celebrities can make themselves look as good as they want.

It seems like only in America can immigrants who are here illegally get on these programs. I’ll bet if we go to their country we cannot demand citizenship, welfare or anything. We might get killed or booted out. Some people are oblivious.

I see gubernatorial candidate Bill Daley accused Gov. Pat Quinn of cronyism. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. A Daley accusing anybody of cronyism? Come on now, please!

In response to Chicago Cubs fans talking about Chicago White Sox fans, yes, we are having a bad year, but at least we have one World Series title in the last 100 years. Enough said! The Sox will be back, and the fans will come back. They always do.

An effort by U.S. Sen. Rand Paul to cut off America’s $1.5 billion in aid to Egypt was defeated in the Senate. Paul, who is a longtime foe of foreign aid, argued that the United States should not be spending money abroad when American cities are crumbling. The Obama administration has strongly opposed cutting aid.

With all the talk about township governments being out of date and no longer needed, why are some supervisors like Thornton Township Supervisor Frank M. Zuccarelli being paid $186,000 a year? I don’t think most police chiefs make close to that. I’m sure you could find hundreds of qualified candidates for their jobs at half the cost, or do the politicians need to keep their armies strong?

Some atheists are insulted by someone hoping you had a spiritual moment. Are you kidding me? Then some of these atheists insult everyone who does believe by saying believers are not intelligent. Trying to disprove someone’s beliefs is a lot easier without a condescending and intolerant attitude and rhetoric. It’s funny how some atheists have no problem insulting Christianity. What are their thoughts on Islam or Judaism? Yeah, that’s what I thought. God bless!

Midlothian

First it was Dixie Square Mall and all along Dixie Highway in Harvey, Markham and Hazel Crest. Then it was Park Forest Plaza and all along Lincoln Highway. Now it’s Lincoln Mall and more of Lincoln Highway. These former malls are all boarded up and out of business. When a neighborhood changes, why don’t the newcomers patronize and support the local business? Will Orland Square Mall in Orland Park be next?

There are a lot of people in prison who have families and children. Do they get a break? If they do the crime then they do the time. There should be no difference for any other criminal.

A Burbank commenter wanted to know what kind of loser goes to a concert with their parents. How about kids and teens who can’t drive or are too young to go by themselves? Can’t parents of adult-age children, who just happened to have the same interest in the same music, go to a concert together? It’s called spending quality time with your family. You should try it.

BBC from Evergreen Park

Why is it that people who demand so much contribute so little? Some people want the government to give them everything yet they do not have a job to pay taxes or a home to pay property taxes. Hopefully the silent majority giant will wake up one day.

Regarding donating to your ethnicity: According to the liberal media, if you’re black and donate to a charity that caters only to blacks, your contribution is considered a noble cause. If you’re white and donate to a charitable cause that only benefits whites, the media labels you as a racist. That’s the truth.
