U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Chicago crime stats are down. Cook County Jail is overcrowded. Maybe the right people are in custody.

A big “thank you” goes out to all the businesses that hired high school and college students for summer. As everyone knows, it’s tough to get a summer job because the students are employed for only 10 to 12 weeks. These young hires were fortunate to earn spending money, learn a new skill, make new friends and keep from getting into mischief or trouble. They were employed as lifeguards, caddies, camp counselors, baby sitters, waitstaff and landscape workers. For the most part, their earnings were minimum wage. Hopefully all of their employers were satisfied with the caliber of work produced.

We have spent more than 10 years fighting a war in Iraq and Afghanistan with Americans. Now here comes Egypt. Now they want us to fight their war, too? These are American lives. How many Egyptians are in the U.S. Armed Forces? Should we get killed out there for them? No, it’s about time we take care of Americans. We have lost enough Americans.

A Speak Out commenter stated, “Speed kills.” I think speed does not kill. Reckless drivers kill. I’m in favor of Illinois raising the speed limit to 70 mph. If you don’t like the speed limit on the highways or are too scared to drive fast, then take local streets to your destination or public transportation because slow drivers on the expressway can also be dangerous.
I could understand why former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. was a big spender. It’s one of the traits of being bipolar. My son is bipolar and does the same thing. So Jackson has an excuse for spending but his wife doesn’t. Former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson should pay for what she did wrong.
Don’t the African nations have enough natural resources like oil, diamonds and gold to support themselves? Can’t they use wind power or hydroelectric power to supply their own people with electricity? They do not need $7 billion from the United States unless the United States is going to get paid back for this investment.
Have you actually met the Republican Party? Between their candidates and the fact that they insult the intelligence of any thinking voter, I think they really don’t need any help from the Democratic Party to implode.
I must agree that the government has been guilty of perpetuating racism by some of the programs the politicians have instituted. Let’s put an end to all the freebies that are given to the recipients that are on the rolls now. Once the freebies have been stopped these people will have to rely on themselves and not others to support them. Teach them to be independent and not to rely on others to support them.
Illinois governor hopeful William Daley is acting like a fourth-grader in grammar school. All he says is Gov. Pat Quinn this and Gov. Pat Quinn that. It’s ridiculous.

So Bradley Manning, who was involved with the WikiLeaks scandal, wants to be a woman. Well, he can wait until he gets out of prison. It’s not a matter of health care as the transgender community might think. If people can’t get basic health care, operations, doctors’ visits, etc., I certainly can’t see how this person can get help first. Basic health care for all should come before specialty health care.
Regarding new immigration laws: I believe that our politicians should write the new immigration laws, but they should not be able to vote them into law. It should be up to the people to vote on the new immigrations laws, not the politicians who will be looking for the new immigrants to vote for them.

We in Eagle Ridge have the same problem with people who bring their dogs to our property and let them urinate all over everything. That kills the grass. Some of these people just will not walk their dog on their own property. This has got to be the most ignorant thing in the world. It’s like it’s their privilege to stand in your lawn and let their dog go.
I think it’s ridiculous that I buy a $500 14-year-old car and have to pay $175 in tax to Cook County.

I can’t believe the feeding frenzy that is overwhelming and ruining sports. It may just bankrupt some sports. Every mother and father who allow their children to participate in any contact sport knows ahead of time that they are rolling the dice. When players collide with each other over the course of a game, some collisions can get violent. Now everybody who played any contact sport in the past is blaming the sport for injuries and concussions. It is getting ridiculous.
The standard seems to be that politicians are treated differently than the rest of us and judges are abetting travesties of justice.
The commenter from Joliet really thinks Jesus “forgave” our sins so a sinner could continue with their merry old life? Jesus bought back the original sin from the perfect man, Adam, so the rest of mankind could have a chance for God’s original purpose for man. I think Millikin University professor James St. James would not want the subject of God brought up concerning him anyway. Did the professor who changed his name reveal his past at his job interviews? What is missing is his cold-blooded murder of his family. How many times has he gone to their grave sites?
