Here are some well wishes for George W. Bush for a quick recovery from his recent heart procedure. I think he was one of our better presidents.
My wife and I took an out-of-town couple to CD&ME in Frankfort for the Charlie Daniels Band. He still puts on a great show. I hope CD&ME invites him back next summer. As usual, CD&ME ran a great program for the guests. It is a nice venue for groups to perform. The only issue was some self-centered fiftysomething people would walk up in order for them to get a better view and stand right in front of us that had a table. What is the matter with people? They cannot look to see what their actions do to someone else?
I am really proud of the way some of the taxpayers in the United States step up to the plate. First, some of them pay their neighbors’ mortgages. Now some of them are paying for their neighbors’ health care. What a great bunch of people!
In response to the Chicago White Sox fan that asked Chicago Cub fans why they continue to flock to Wrigley Field to watch a lousy team: That’s the definition of a fan unlike those fair-weather people on the Chicago’s South Side.

To the national tenants at Lincoln Mall in Matteson: Don’t give up. Yes, the shopping center has fallen on hard times and needs massive improvements, but leaving will just put the mall back even further. I hope you stay and help the mall to thrive again.
To the Oak Forest commenter inspired by a rock song to reject science in favor of mythology: Spend more time in the classroom and less in the church pew. I think your arguments are flawed. You allude to an argument resulting in an infinite regress standing in opposition to your Christo-Islamic mythology. You march out the fallacious “argument from ignorance.” It would take too long to explain every error, but know that you have the burden of proof in producing this elusive creator you assume. If you want to discredit evolution, publish your peer-reviewed paper and collect your Nobel Prize.
I know it is wrong what Syria did, but the United States has to keep its nose out if it. Do not send troops. Let the United Nations handle it. We are part of that. It should be enough. Help our citizens first, then the other countries.
Former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson only cheated on her taxes. I think that kind of offense deserves a slap on the wrist.
Bravo to the Homer Township Public Library for its new Michael C. Olivieri Heroes Quiet Reading Room in Homer Glen. I hope it helps bring comfort to his family and also reminds us all of the sacrifices that those in the military make for the United States.
Maybe someone can help me understand this. My husband got an inheritance from a deceased uncle. That was money that the uncle earned and already paid taxes on. Why is it that we, once again, have to pay taxes on it? Other than lining politicians’ pockets, where is this money going to? It just doesn’t seem fair that this money gets taxed twice.
I wonder if singer Miley Cyrus believes any publicity is good.
So $15 an hour will take a person out of poverty? One year of pay comes to $31,200, which barely pays my health insurance and property taxes. The American dream is fading. My wife and I are retired and owe nothing yet to live a decent life, it costs us $90,000 a year. I still don’t feel stuffing fries into a bag warrants $15 an hour. The problem with this country and others is everybody thinks they deserve the best. Your neighbor has a 60-inch television so you must have one. This doesn’t even account for people abusing government handouts.
Double-dipping is so prevalent in Illinois’ state, county, city, township and regional boards and jobs that it is disgusting. How many don’t we know about? When they get caught, their appointer always praises the political hack as the best possible candidate. And we keep voting these people in while they laugh at us.

I think this whole country of America is as backwards as it gets. We have gangs running the streets, children with absentee fathers, drug abuse and embarrassing TV shows, but pastors and other people are sending robocalls and sending money out to stop gay people from getting married? The sanctity of marriage is already dying, and you’re worried about the children? You’re sending them to the gallows. What kind of sick, greedy and backwards people are you?
I’ve just learned that thanks to our lousy U.S. government that in 2014 30 hours a week will be considered full-time work. For hourly employees like me and my husband, that means my company can cut us 10 hours a week and there will be nothing we can do. Just think of the money we and millions of others will lose every week. How many of us will lose our homes and cars? Does our government have a clue as to what they have done to millions of people?
