Hopefully Shepard High School’s project in Palos Heights will bring plenty of improvements for Community High School District 218 students. The better the environment, the better the learning.
The millions of unemployed are not all bums. We go to job fairs and respond to postings. Everybody is looking for a job posting. We want our neighborhoods to be civil. Don’t ridicule us. We might just be on hard times right now. Why don’t our civic leaders in the south suburbs hear our cry and create job opportunities for us?
We really need to stay out of Syria. I’m tired of putting Americans at risk. Let them fight amongst themselves and leave our servicemen home. I’m tired of having them come back home with an arm or a leg missing. Let’s not fight someone else’s battle. We have been doing this for the past 50 years. We get in there and we never win. Let’s just stay home.
Politicians should be subjected to the same kind of treatment as the private sector. If you did half the stuff these politicians do on your job, you would be immediately fired. But we don’t even look twice at these actions nor do we look to get them out of office until their term is over. How ridiculous is that? In my book, either you do it right or you get eliminated.

Why does it seem like equal rights means a handout? It should mean a hand up. You don’t mind giving someone a hand up, but it always seems like people want a handout. This needs to change.
Regarding schools without air conditioning: It’s the 21st century. While there are still kids and teachers sweating in unbearably hot classrooms, it’s probably a safe bet that most offices and administration centers of those same school districts are cool and comfy.
The problem is not the speed limit on expressways at 70 mph. Many states already have that. The problem is that it seems like the speed limit is not enforced even at 55 mph. The drivers in traffic are keeping up going 65 or 70 mph, and you’ll still have a clown whiz by you driving 85 or 90 mph. These are the people who cause all of the accidents. If there was a 70-mph speed limit enforced, then it will be much safer than what we have now.
There is a toxic stench coming from this administration for the past five years from Obamacare to unemployment to everything else President Obama has touched.

To Bob from Evergreen Park: Please do not chastise others. While I am happy for you, most of us do not enjoy the cost of living rising when our paychecks aren’t. While your life is good, others are not. Believe me and you when I say my husband and I are hard workers. Times have changed.

They put a Divvy bike rack in front of a condominium in Chicago’s Lake View community, and the condo association doesn’t like it. Let’s turn around and put some bike racks in front of aldermen’s houses and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s house and see how they like it.
With all the talk about entitlements, I think everyone should watch an 88-minute program called “The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia.” It’s definitely an eye-opener.
I think we are raising a generation of hothouse wimps. Schools are letting out because it’s too hot. What about snow days? We used to walk to school through waist-high snowdrifts and there were never any closings. It’s no wonder we are losing out in the academic competition with the rest of the world.
The United States needs to reinstate the draft for both males and females who are 19 years old and older.
To commenter that said it takes $90,000 a year for him and his wife to have a decent life being retired: Really? I mean the average medium income for all wage earners in America is way less per year. I think these people should count their blessings, and if it costs more than $31,000 a year to pay their property taxes and health insurance, then I would strongly suggest they move to Indiana.
Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich gets 14 years in prison for running his mouth, but former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife, former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson, get 30 months and one year for stealing money and lying on their taxes. I’ve learned my lesson in Illinois. Steal money and shut up about it rather than bluffing and talking about it. Doesn’t that sound like a new Illinois motto or what?
There is a new TV show on TBS called “Deal With It.” I think it’s the stupidest thing around. A woman was told by the host to tell her husband that the baby was not his. I would strongly disagree. This is so stupid. Do we really need a show like this? Do we really want to pit mother against father against child for fun?
To the Chicago Cubs fan referring to Chicago White Sox fans as fair-weather: Do you really believe Cubs fans are that loyal? Watch the games and look in the stands and you’ll see the stands half empty. The Cubs draw well because of Wrigley Field and the surrounding area. There are Cubs fans and there are fans of the Wrigleyville neighborhood. To the other Cubs fan who said at least the Cubs never threw a World Series like the Sox did: You’re probably correct, but I swear it sure looked like they threw a couple playoff series in the past.
