For the first time since introducing the device, Apple will offer two distinct versions of its latest iPhones — a cheaper model made of colorful plastic and another one that aims to be "the gold standard of smartphones." (AP Photo/Ng Han Guan)

There has to be something wrong with the news channels when the introduction of a new Apple iPhone is the second story on the evening news.
Aren’t our elected officials supposed to listen to the will of the people? Then why are some of them going against the people and only thinking about what they want to do regarding this Syria issue? Somewhere along the line they got it into their heads that they are big brothers rather than servants of the people.
Regarding Tinley Park Mayor Ed Zabrocki’s idea for a roundabout at 183rd Street and Oak Park Avenue, has the mayor ever been at that corner when there is a concert at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre? Traffic is backed up for miles, and a roundabout is just a dangerous idea for that area. Just because the area outside Milwaukee does something doesn’t mean Tinley Park has to do it. We wish the mayor would concentrate more on the empty stores in the village instead of creating dangerous traffic hazards.
To the commenter from Crestwood: I do not think of you in a negative light because of your faith. I think of you in a negative light because of your ignorance. The atoms of which you speak coalesced from the energy of the Big Bang (E=mc2) and through nuclear fusion reactions in supernovae. Evolution is not just a theory. It is the best explanation for the diversity of life ever proposed. It has passed every test, and its predictive ability is beyond compare.
I think the American people are fed up with our Washington, D.C., politicians and President Obama for trying to get us to another foreign country for another war. It’s not the politicians’ families who will be fighting their war. It’s the American people who are being sent over to die on foreign soil. Say no to any war. Take care of America.

Women get pregnant and carry these kids. It’s our job to pick a good man to be our partner and kid’s father. I believe in commitment before kids. Sure, he can leave, but chances are better that he won’t. It seems anyone can be your kid’s father, but kids need their dads. Kids need good fathers, not gangbangers, men with many kids by many women, prison inmates, welfare leeches, etc. Yes, I’m old-fashioned. I believe in family and marriage. Call it commitment to my kids and spouse. I’m tired of single moms thinking they’re special or should get special consideration.
In response to Kent from Monee regarding the fact that the major news media should wake up and start reporting all of the news instead of what they want to print, I agree with you. But I’m am also aware that a large majority of the mainstream media is liberal. One will not find unfavorable information about your politicians if they are liberal. If you want the truth about any political party in office, you must seek your information from alternate sources. Many journalists now slant the news to their own political beliefs instead of just providing the facts.

Regarding changing our towns: It has been more than five months since the last election. What have the new mayors in the south suburbs accomplished so far? I don’t mean just kicking out the people they don’t like and replacing them with people that supported them. These politicians all talked a good game about change. What change?
This just goes to show you how the suburbs treat their children. With all of this heat some of the suburban schools are either closing or letting children out of school early. What about the Chicago schools? Many of them are having these poor children sit in classrooms without air conditioning in the sweltering heat. I think it’s a disgrace. Parents should stand together and plant one in the board of education’s backside. I think the board doesn’t care about these children. All they care about is greed and money because that’s all that is coming out of their mouths.
Lessons learned from 9/11? I think the answer is zero. None. We have unwelcome troops in many many countries. We have thousands of troops in Korea, a country we divided more than 60 years ago. We have even more in Germany, more than 65 years after World War II is over. Wake up, people! I think the business of America is the manufacture, sale and use of weapons. The business of America is war.
While driving to work on Interstate 57 north, out of the blue came a motorcyclist who not only was speeding but went between two cars driving on the divider line. He cut in between traffic, swaying in and out of lanes as far as I could see. Also, he went onto the shoulder to pass others. Sir, if you have a death wish please do not include innocent drivers. I value my life as do others.

About our nation of the United States: The North won the American Civil War because of its manufacturing. How can we survive if all of our manufacturing is done in foreign countries? Bring it back or the USA will not survive.
I work for a school with a few thousand teenagers. Yes, these lunch ladies are seriously underpaid for their working conditions. Some of the food costs about as much as McDonald’s.
I just heard about the Great Divide. The wealth gap is getting worse in America, and it is dangerous. We have the widest income gap since the 1920s. Do you remember what happened back then? Quit complaining about the Link card and open up your eyes.
