SPEAK OUT COMMENT: "I think you should vote for a politician by his record. You should go through the trouble to check on how they vote." | AP file photo

I’d like to thank the people who plow the snow on our streets. I couldn’t think of living any other place but Orland Park. Thank you to the people who have worked so hard to keep Orland Park so safe and clean during the cold weather.
They were in such a hurry to put in these bike lanes and get these bike racks installed that they ignored people who didn’t want the bike racks in front of their building. Take a look at how this is working out for them. The Divvy bike company has filed for bankruptcy. We all know Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel wanted this, but how many aldermen were also in on this waste? We sure have a bunch of good officials here in Chicago, don’t we? I think the people are getting fed up with some of these aldermen and the mayor.
Regarding the Alex Rodriguez decision and his suspension for one season: The New York Yankees still must pay him millions based on his contract? Really? I could see why if the guy had injured himself or gotten into an accident which caused him to not perform, but committing a wrong, Alex Rodriguez, in my opinion, violated the contract. What was left of the contract should be terminated. Why is it only these high-paid sports contracts and public servants get these kind of benefits? We the sheeple in the real working world, union or not, don’t.
It’s that time of year where everyone with a pickup truck with a plow thinks he’s special. You’re not curing cancer. Stop acting like you’re important. Some of them push snow right into the public roadways. I’d like to see more municipalities ticket people who abuse this.
I’ve been to R-rated movies where morons — excuse me, parents — brought small kids. What idiot thinks small kids need to see graphic sex or violence? I’ve been uncomfortable watching a movie knowing a small child was watching. At one movie, a boy of about 5 years old was with two “adults.” When the naughty bits came on, the dad laughed like the juvenile he is and repeatedly poked the kid in the arm while the mom sat like a lump. What a pair of losers! The poor kid is having to learn about sex from those dopes and movies.
The city of Chicago asked people to go out and shovel around hydrants and sewers. I think we pay enough taxes for them to have the help to do this. Tell an alderman to shovel out a sewer. Tell an inmate who is just sitting around to shovel. It takes a lot of nerve to ask the citizens to do that. I resent it. You tax my house, raised my water bill and other things. I think it’s ridiculous.
About Tinley Park’s image: I agree with James from Tinley. We should be attracting a balance of mom-and-pop businesses as well as some upscale ones. I can’t think of one area of Tinley that I would consider a hot spot of shopping and dining except for Brookside Marketplace. Mayor Ed Zabrocki, let’s step it up.
Some people still want to bring a casino to Chicago. What a disgusting and disgraceful thing to think about! I think these Chicago politicians would have those machines emptied before the day was over and the money would be long gone.
Phil Kadner’s column “Sad record of hiding child sex abuse” was well done. Thank you.
When are these rooftop owners going to give up? They should put themselves as the owners of Wrigley Field. This would never have been an offer. Just because I live across the street from a grocery store doesn’t mean I get things others don’t get, does it? The party is over!
MaryAnn from Palos Heights
Is it so hard to use a snowbrush and brush off your car when it snows? The snow left on your roof or trunk blows off and the people behind you can’t see. Even when it’s not snowing there is snow blowing at me from the car in front of me, causing me poor visibility. With the streets being slippery because of no plowing in places and some of the parking being atrocious because of the snowbanks I wish people would be responsible for themselves and not add to the winter road hazards.
You have to have photo identification to buy medical marijuana, to buy a gun, to cash a check, to get medical treatment and many other things yet for some reason requiring photo identification to vote is considered unconstitutional and hurts people. How can this be? Everyone seems to have photo identification for something. It is not that expensive to get one from the state. This is a burden? I think this is just another ploy to allow those who shouldn’t be voting to vote. There should be a law requiring photo identification to vote.
I think the Internal Revenue Service investigates every entity that wants a tax-free status. They investigate liberals and conservatives.
We are not stupid. The only reason they want to open all of these charter schools is to break up the unions. I suggest all teachers get together a petition to remove some of these people in the Chicago Board of Education. Let the people speak and elect somebody who knows what they are doing. I think they are trying to privatize Chicago.
I think President Obama is going to make President Nixon look so honest.
